Today marks the first day of the new Commission's mandate 🇪🇺.
We look forward to working with Commissioner @DanJoergensen on his mission to deliver clean, sustainable, and secure energy for Europeans.

We'll stay the course on the #EUGreenDeal and the goals we set for 2030 and 2050.
We will now focus on implementation & investment.
I'll put forward a Clean Industrial Deal in the first 100 days.
To invest in infrastructure & industry, especially in energy intensive sectors.
56 GW of wind & solar ☀️ capacity was installed in the EU 2022.
New installed capacity for 2023 is estimated at around 73 GW = 18% increase on 2022 figures.
Total #RenewableEnergy capacity in the EU is now close to 480 GW.

Happy to take part of the #PentalateralEnergyForum's ministerial meeting today, where 🇦🇹🇧🇪🇫🇷🇩🇪🇱🇺🇳🇱 &🇨🇭announced their joint ambition to decarbonize their electricity system by 2035, an important step towards a joint path to decarbonize the industrial heart of Europe🇪🇺.
The new Energy Efficiency Directive enters into force today.
It sets a bold target: reducing the final energy consumption in EU by at least 11.7% by 2030.
To put it into perspective, we could save what Spain currently consumes in 1 year.

"Our wind industry is a European success story.
With a European Wind Power package, we will fast-track permitting even more and improve the auction systems across the EU, focusing on skills, access to finance and stable supply chains."
— President @vonderleyen#SOTEU 2023
Climate change is man-made. So it means we can address it.
For this we need innovation, investments in green technologies, renewable energy capacity and energy efficiency.
This requires more investments.
At the G20 I invited leaders to join the call for global carbon pricing.
We have political momentum we can use to progressively move to make a meshed #offshoregrid in the North Seas a reality. Tomorrow, @ENTSO_E will host a High-Level Electricity Grids Forum, where we can accelerate EU #electricity#grid progress. Stay tuned!
