My question about Jan 6 is What was supposed to happen? It maybe that Trump intended to stand on the floor of the senate surrounded by armed rioters and personally oversee the counting of his fake electoral votes. This was thwarted by his secret service trying to protect him.

I have just heard Oliver Dowden say that the UK govt has "robust resilience plans" for power shortage this coming winter. My immediate reaction was "Oh Shit". The Tories are a completely useless bunch of tossers, and it can only be a disaster.

@MattScottMusic @Yogablackbelt I voted for the Corbyn-led Labour party, I will vote for the Starmer-led Labour party. But if the challenger to the Tories in my seat was LibDem I would hold my nose and vote for her/him. To do otherwise would be utter stupidity. Under our system you vote against not for.

@PetronellaWyatt The rules change. They have changed for every party leader since Macmillan, except that I think there were two that happened under the rules known as Sir Alec's revenge. The rules tomorrow are whatever they come up with to sort out the shambles caused by the rules of yesterday.

@davesumnersmith When Labour replaced student grants with student loans. Apparently John Major took Tony Blair aside and told him not to do it. That was a sea-change moment.
Also, and I don't know when it was, when Putin decided to extract the UK from the EU to weaken the west.

@PaulEmbery We still do, and they are more intelligent and more hard-working and tend to be female. They may not present as Solons of Westminster, because they are more concerned with getting the job done than their own image or legacy.
