Today marks the 1,569th day of Russia's brutal full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The Kremlin’s so called ‘3-day special military operation’ has now lasted longer than World War I. Through unimaginable heroism, hardship and sacrifice, Ukraine remains unbroken.
The Russian Defence Ministry claims its overnight strike on Ukraine was a response to Ukrainian ‘terrorist acts’.
Russian missiles and drones targeted multiple Ukrainian regions, damaging homes and injuring civilians.
Whatever disinformation narrative may follow, Russia launched the attack. And Russia bears full responsibility.
Last night, Russia launched one of the largest attacks of the war, using tens of missiles and hundreds of drones to target apartment buildings, hospitals and civilian infrastructure throughout Ukraine. Over 17 people have been killed, including children, while more than 100 people are injured.
With its typical cynicism and against all evidence, Russia now uses its vast network of disinformation outlets to falsely portray its war crimes as ‘legitimate strikes on defense enterprises.’
There are three long-running myths behind Russia’s “invincible” image: 1) Russia is an unstoppable military force. 2) Russian firepower is so powerful and terrifying that fighting it is pointless. 3) Ukraine and its allies have already lost the war. #StandWithUkraine
Russia loves to portray its military as invincible. Since 2014, Ukraine has exposed Russia to be more of a paper bear and in recent months managed to stall its battlefield progress. #StandWithUkraine

We stand united against Russian pressure.
Remarks by @kajakallas to the press at this morning’s EU foreign ministers’ meeting, with a correction regarding the diplomatic presence in Kyiv.

Russia wants us to discuss who talks to them,
And they are already picking who is suitable for that.
Let's not walk into that trap.
Negotiations are always a team effort, with a defined strategy.
That’s why the substance that we discuss today in Cyprus matters much more.
My press remarks ahead of today’s meeting of EU Foreign Ministers ↓
🇷🇺 threat to foreign citizens & diplomats to leave Kyiv is an unacceptable escalation. @eu_eeas summoned the Chargé d'Affairs, calling to stop hitting civilians & 🇷🇺 to engage in genuine peace talks starting with a full and unconditional ceasefire. @EUDelegationUA stays in Kyiv.
On #EUDayAgainstImpunity, I reiterate my concern over the most serious crimes in the world and express my solidarity with the victims and survivors - from Ukraine, Sudan, OPT, Lebanon, Yemen, DRC to Myanmar. I will continue advocating for accountability and supporting those defending justice. The gravest crimes cannot go without consequences.
Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine last night shows the Kremlin’s brutality and disregard for both human life and peace negotiations.
Terror against civilians is not strength. It's despair.
We stand firmly with Ukraine, with further support on the way to reinforce its air defence systems.
What's the cost of sanctions for Russia? Falling oil/gas revenue (with Iran war windfalls offering temporary relief, not structural recovery), punishingly expensive borrowing, loss of key markets. It is increasingly difficult for the Kremlin to finance the war. #StandWithUkraine
Russia hit a dead-end on the battlefield, so it terrorizes Ukraine with deliberate strikes on city centres.
These are abhorrent acts of terror meant to kill as many civilians as possible.
Moscow reportedly using Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missiles – systems designed to carry nuclear warheads – is a political scare-tactic and reckless nuclear-brinkmanship.
Next week, EU Foreign Ministers will discuss how to dial up the international pressure on Russia.
Today is the International Day of Solidarity with Political Prisoners in Belarus. Since 2021, nine political prisoners have lost their lives. More than 840 remain imprisoned. We call for the release of all political prisoners. #StandWithBelarus
Today, I am highlighting the cases of these 3 political prisoners in Belarus, who are over 70 years old.

Claims that the Baltic States allow Ukraine to use their airspace are utter nonsense - and Russia knows it.
Moscow’s threats against the Baltic States are not a sign of strength, but of weakness.
Russia is failing on the battlefield in Ukraine and is trying to intimidate us into reducing our support for Ukraine.
The right response is to do the opposite: increase our support to Ukraine and boost Europe’s defences even further.
Russia’s public threats against our Baltic States are completely unacceptable.
Let there be no doubt.
A threat against one Member State is a threat against our entire Union.
Russia and Belarus bear direct responsibility for drones endangering the lives and security of people on our Eastern flank.
Europe will respond with unity and strength.
We will continue reinforcing the security of our Eastern flank with strong collective defence and preparedness at every level.
Today, I am highlighting the cases of these 3 political prisoners in Belarus who were under 18 years old at the time of detention (or allegedly committing acts).

Close to 20 000 🇺🇦 children have been unlawfully deported by Russia since 2022. Just over 2 100 have been brought home — each return a story of resilience. Sarah McCarthy follows the healing journey of children reunited with their families: https://t.co/QY4aDfJ9Tv
