The EU-South Asia Aviation Partnership Project develops the partnership with South Asia on climate change action, environment and improving aviation safety
Today we celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Maldives joining the voluntary phase for implementation of CORSIA. The official announcement was announced during the regional workshop organized by @EU_SA_APP held in Paradise Island Resort in Maldives in May 2022.
Earlier in July, @EASA and @DGCAIndia signed a Memorandum of Understanding, for which @EU_SA_APP pathed the way, to collaborate on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (#UAS) and Innovative Air Mobility (#IAM) to ensure the highest standards of aviation safety and environmental protection.
We have just concluded the 5-day workshop on the #UPRT topic designed exclusively for Asian regulators. Jointly organized between @EASA APPs and @icao COSCAPs. In total, 35 participants from Asian CAAs attended this activity from 19 different countries from 3 different regions.
We concluded the 7-day activity for Indian regulatory, accreditation, verification bodies and industry with comprehensive sessions to provide capacity building and assistance to all organizations involved in #CORSIA implementation and the development of India's #StateActionPlan
In June, the #SARI program has been making great strides in supporting the SA states in the process of adoption and harmonization of the regulations:

2.SARI OPS RDW with industry, Sri Lanka, 12-14 Jun
3.SARI Part M IV, Pakistan, 19-23 Jun
#SARI PART M IV to the Maldives was held between 21–25 May 2023:
EASA AIR Expert conducted the Programme with the participation of SARI coordinator and @EU_SA_APP Project Director, along with the SQEs from Bhutan and Bangladesh.

As a follow-up to the signature of the Letter of Intent between @EASA and @DGCAIndia both parties met during the EU-India Aviation Summit to discuss further details and steps towards the implementation of it and the potential signature of Memorandum of Understanding in thedomain
The first #SARI RDW onsite meeting of the project's second phase was held at the Civil Aviation Authority Sri Lanka, covering Part 66 and Part 147, followed by Part M Implementation Visit with the SARI Qualified Experts on Airworthiness from the Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
The primary objective of the project remains the goal to strengthen the partnership between the EU and the SA region in the domain of civil aviation. Such as the recent signature of the Letter of Intent between EASA and DGCA India in the domain of UAS facilitated by the project.
The @EU_Commission and the @MoCA_GoI are co-organizing the EU-India Aviation Summit as a platform for collective dialogue and future cooperation in aviation; Held in Delhi, 20-21 Apr 2023, it is funded by the @EU_SA_APP, an EU-funded project implemented by @EASA#EUIndiaAviation
In March, the project’s SMS/SSP experts Simon Roberts and Hazel Courteney conducted the 1st onsite visits to Nepal and Bhutan under the second phase of the project. The visit involved a series of SMS/SSP Workshops that were high in participation from both industry and CAAs.
Earlier in March, in their capacity as Environment Experts to the EU-South Asia Aviation Partnership Project (EU-SA APP), Africa and Mark shared their knowledge and experience with delegates in 2 sessions: What is #SAF? and #SAF in Market-Based Measures.
