According to the Independent Election Commission’s instructions, the campaign ends 24 hours before the e-day. The EU EOM observed that it’s unclear whether campaigning in media and on social media is allowed during the 24 hours which precede the voting.

Among the 1,623 candidates who run for September election, only six were known to have a disability, and none of them got elected.

The EU EOM observed the participation of women and youth in the electoral process. It recommends to enhance the representation of women and youth by increasing their opportunities to stand for election through more preferential placements in the General Electoral District lists.
Five of our 18 recommendations focus on media. They include proposals to strengthen capacity of journalists covering elections, review shortcomings in the law impacting freedom of expression, guarantee free and equitable political messaging in public media.

The EU EOM #Jordan hosted a roundtable with journalists and media representatives to gather their views on its recommendations on media and freedom of expression. The Final Report includes 18 recommendations, with 5 of these focused on the media environment and related laws.
