The Foreign Affairs Council in its Development configuration is taking place today in Brussels.

EU development ministers are gathering to discuss the EU’s external action, from sustainable development in partner countries to the role of Global Gateway. FAC in this configuration takes place once every six months.

Pleased to meet the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani @TamimBinHamad in Doha.

We discussed efforts to de-escalate the situation in the region with two priorities in mind:

Working towards a more stable and lasting ceasefire that could pave the way to sustainable peace in the region. 

Restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The EU is committed to strengthening its strategic ties with Qatar and the Gulf partners, particularly on energy security, trade and investments and humanitarian cooperation.
