Another LA has broke data protection again & can't be bothered to do their job correctly. Sent letters & personal information to the wrong address. Yet had the correct address to doorstep! Ask again why we do not want or need any such register for home educated children!

Learning to hate and fear reading is a problem created by school, not solved by it. I strongly recommend reading Harriet Pattison's book "Rethinking Learning to Read"

@drcarolinej this is a school mindset question, but it makes as much sense as asking why we are not testing children's ability to walk. We all accept that children just want to walk! Reading in a literate society is the same, unless they actively learn to hate reading

Victor Shafiee from @Ofstednews thinks children on protection plans shouldn't be allowed to be home educators. This opens a door to clear abuse of the system, where EHE officers can report families to social services only to prevent them from home education

So important to understand this distinction! A register gives the LA more power over home educating families, with little accountability; proper academic research is obligated to ethical standards and is voluntary.

Absolutely chilling that there's an official giving evidence to the @CommonsEd saying that taking families to court is a 'good outcome' and that 'school is the best place'. It really isn't for many families. And families in Portsmouth are being taken to court maliciously.
