This "rumour that PPW are really dating" controversy really shows that some people in this fandom still think being queer is a bad thing, or only happens in fiction. It really shows that some people are okay with queerness as long as it remains a fantasy or is performed for an audience but would somehow be impossible in reality. It's deep rooted homophobia.
