Summer just started but we're already hard at work preparing for the 26-27 school year. Here's our first group of new teachers to complete their HR orientation! Welcome to the EVSC!
Forty-four graduates. Over 5.6 million dollars in scholarship offers. This is the EVSC Academy of Science & Medicine, a program that brings together students from across our high schools who apply, earn their spot, and take on the kind of advanced coursework and hands-on clinical experience most kids do not encounter until grad school. Congratulations to this year's class. The bar these students set keeps moving higher, and the future is in very capable hands.
Eight ceremonies. Thousands of graduates. One unforgettable week!

We are absolutely thrilled to congratulate the band and choir programs from Central, as well as the band programs from Harrison, North, and Reitz, for earning the prestigious Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) All-Music Award.
To earn this distinction, schools must demonstrate excellence and bring home gold ratings across the entire spectrum of ISSMA events. That means our students performed at the highest level in solo and ensemble, jazz, marching band, and full concert group performances.
Congratulations to our students and directors on this phenomenal achievement. You make our community so proud!
We are incredibly proud to share that our very own Executive Director of Opt-In, BJ Watts, has been reappointed to the Indiana State Board of Education by Governor Mike Braun!
With this appointment, BJ officially becomes the longest-serving member of the board! We are so grateful for his dedication to shaping education policy and his tireless work for our schools.
Thanks for leading the way! ποΈπ
"What's Happening with Dr. Hoover" returns to Scott and Hebron Elementary to check in with the kindergarteners we met at the start of the school year.
It's amazing to see how much they've grown in just one year. From mastering math problems and reading chapter books to making new friends and learning about writing, these students have come a long way since August. Hear them reflect on their favorite parts of kindergarten and what they're looking forward to (or not so sure about) as they head into first grade.
Grateful to Evansville Rotary and Liberty Federal Credit Union for supporting more than 20 of our schools and programs with their Classroom Enrichment Grants! Thank you for supporting our students!
Summer break is almost here! βοΈ Get a head start on your summer planning with the EVSC Summer Nutrition Program.
We will be offering FREE MEALS for ALL kids 18 years & younger! Check out the attached flyer for a full list of locations, dates, and serving times so you are ready to go when school lets out. ποΈ
Important Note: There will be no meal service on June 19th & July 3rd. Please share to help us spread the word before the final bell rings! π
Join us in a massive round of applause for the North Wind Ensemble! This weekend, they placed 6th overall at the ISSMA Concert Band State Finals!
Unlike marching band or many high school sports where schools are divided into classes based on size, ISSMA Concert Band State is a completely open field. Every single high school in the state competes head-to-head. Securing 6th place out of the entire state is a monumental achievement. To top it off, this 6th place finish sets a new school record for the band program and marks their third straight year finishing in the Top 10! π
We are incredibly proud of hard work and dedication of these students and their directors!
Every fall, thousands of students walk into an EVSC school for the first time. Thirteen years later, they walk out as scientists, artists, tradespeople, leaders, and everything in between. That journey doesn't happen by accident. It happens here.
Today was Signing Day.
More than 130 EVSC seniors stepped up, signed their names, and made it official. A job, a career, or a path into the military is waiting for them the moment they walk the graduation stage.
Same pride and handshake from someone who's already counting on them, just with a future employer instead of a college coach.
More than 50 area business partners joined this year's @OptIN_EVSC Signing Day, ready to welcome these students into the workforce. The first one back in 2019 had 7 businesses and 31 students. The growth speaks to the strength of our community and the talent of our seniors.
Congratulations, Class of 2026. We couldn't be more #EVSCProud!
"There is sometimes a perception that excellence lives somewhere else."
In her first State of Our Schools address, Dr. Hoover introduced us to Ava - an EVSC senior collaborating with an Alzheimer's drug developer and a research lead at Eli Lilly before she's even started college. And Ava's experience isn't the exception.
