@JonahDispatch I distinctly recall roaming the back woods and fields in and around Cary, N.C., in my elementary years, before that town grew into a behemoth. I also recall an actual dinner bell on the porch.
School inspections? In the U.S.? Yes, indeed! Pleased to appear on the Education Gadfly Show to discuss what I learned from a reporting project for @EducationNext.
On the latest Education Gadfly Show podcast, @ewrobelen joins @MichaelPetrilli and David Griffith to discuss school inspections—what they are, how they might fit into accountability systems, and who’s actually using them in U.S. schools. https://t.co/scGAq13p9W
'So, what did you learn?' @MichaelPetrilli asks. The short answer. A lot. Pleased to wear my reporter hat and be a guest on the Education Gadfly show recently.
On this week’s Education Gadfly Show: Could school inspections be the accountability tool we’ve been missing? Former Ed Week reporter Erik Robelen joins @MichaelPetrilli and David Griffith to explain who’s using them—and why they might matter. https://t.co/scGAq13p9W
School inspections are alive and well in the U.S., but get little notice. I shared what I learned reporting for @EducationNext on the @educationgadfly podcast. As a bonus, get the backstory of how @MichaelPetrilli met the love of his life.

School "inspections" are more widespread than you might guess in the U.S. A key inspiration was the English system. Turns out, that approach is seeing big changes, sparked in part by the tragic death of a principal. @MichaelPetrilli@EducationNext

@Eugene_Robinson This is another big loss for the Post. Sigh. Count me among the many Post readers who will surely miss your column. Thank you. I will keep an eye out for your future work. Best wishes.
Anyone remember the buzz around school "inspections" some years ago? Turns out, the idea is alive and well in the U.S., though the term "inspection" is rarely used here. I wore my edu-reporter hat for this piece. @EducationNext

Today, the United States launched a trade war against Canada: their closest partner and ally — their closest friend.
Canadians are reasonable, but we will not back down from a fight.
Not when our country is at stake.
