Ep 077 - Iraq's Militias Lose Their Paymaster
🇮🇶 Iran's central bank governor said it on his own state television: the oil money is at zero, and the reserves are out of reach.
The factions refusing to hand their weapons to the Iraqi state ran on that money for 2 decades.
Watch what followed.
The loudest holdout published a price list instead of a refusal.
Tehran itself endorsed putting faction weapons under the Iraqi state.
The Kurdistan Region filed the first numbers into the 2027 budget, the paper that carries the IQD's new rate.
Every question about the Iraqi Dinar will always led back to the weapons.
This week the men holding them asked, in public, what handing them over looks like on the other side.
"Banks will never use it" is now but a distant echo from a bygone era.
As crypto goes full tradfi & institutional (and the rest of the space remains awfully quiet), XRPL and $XRP adoption by big players only grows.
It's no longer even fashionable to hate XRP.
Ripple Prime joining DTCC's Tokenization Working Group is "the plan" working.
Acquire tradfi infrastructure.
Update it for crypto.
When the biggest tradfi firms in the world feel the legal clarity is there, you become essential infrastructure for the new finance. ripple:native
A few good books worth reading:
-The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand - forget the philosophy or politics if you want, this is the single best portrait of an uncompromising artist ever written, and it's written masterfully. Groupthink, 2nd Handers, weak critics, and creating for oneself not others, all expressed in a way no one else can or has.
-Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda - the ultimate life story of a true Indian yogi. Beloved by George Harrison, Steve Jobs (he gave it to attendees at his own funeral), and so many other spiritual seekers. If there is one spiritual book to read imo, it's this.
Leaves of Grass 1855 Edition by Walt Whitman - the best American poetry and probably writing of all time. Read it out loud while walking in the woods and understand what poetry can really do.
Ripple's Xpring Fund may not have a lot of well known successful investment plays. But their 2018 Series A funding of Securitize may end up being a big winner.
Ripple knew tokenization of securities would eventually happen. Once again, they were early, and they were right.
Last time we saw one of these whiteboards in a video from Ripple some of the info was announced months later.
$XRP in between JPM, Wells Fargo, and other banks as part of the 2026 plan is certainly an intentional marketing choice.
This isn't the pre-stablecoin era anymore. $XRP is no longer a bridge between fiat currencies (xRapid). Though some still try to use this old narrative.
XRP is an auto-bridge between stablecoins issued on XRPL. The institutional, public, global, compliant DEX is happening.
$XRP Army has waited over 10 years for the IOV vision to be legal. We always thought in trillions, in the highest-ceiling-best-case-scenario-possible for this technology. We endured burning, drowning, firing squads, and guillotines. Finally, we're getting CLARITY.
It's pretty clear where the modern American financial system is going: Crypto, Prediction Markets & Betting Apps joining the Nasdaqs, DTCCs and CMEs.
Ripple + XRPL is well positioned for this new world, at exactly the time it's going mainstream. $XRP
Brad Garlinghouse joins new CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee.
One day after saying he is, "as bullish and optimistic about $XRP as anyone."
XRP is one of the commodities of the future.
No one is impressed by a calculator.
Nor should we be by AI videos.
Both math & storytelling are only important in the context of understanding our mysterious universe.
To do this, you need a direct link to the vast cosmic intelligence.
That link is called a human being.
XRPL is quietly becoming everything that's needed for institutional DeFi at scale, meaning the ability to compliantly + globally handle trillions while utilizing $XRP - all while Ripple's acquisition tech stack and client list grows and US close to passing market structure.
The crypto industry we once knew is dying, while crypto adoption is going more mainstream than ever.
This is the inevitable evolution from useless to useful, from fraud to regulated, from dark to light.
I for one am cheering on this wash-out of deplorable culture, hype, lies, and backroom deals.
Morally, crypto has a very bad track record. Like many narratives before it, bad actors posing as good ones spread disinformation to control what people thought. They told us about the revolution they were creating, the good they would do, the humanitarian ideals they held, and to avoid the real bad actors, like Ripple.
Years and years and years of the same people calling out $XRP and Ripple for being evil - when anyone who knows anything about this industry knows one can throw a rock only a few feet and hit something corrupt in crypto, and yet how many called out that?
The longer you have been in this industry the more disgusted you became. Almost nothing you were told, from projects, from media, from influencers was true. I promise, almost everything was part of a marketing tactic to make money from you.
What's held this industry back is twofold. One, banks and governments have been threatened by the technology. And two, the industry has been a horrible place designed to take money from people, by whatever means necessary.
If you truly believe in public chains, and the ability to self-custody and see transactions transparently, then nothing has changed. The good can still prevail. But a true reckoning should happen.
We know Ripple and XRP were targeted from the beginning. Campaigns, paid and unpaid, were unleashed over and over and over. Propaganda, lawsuits, media lies, de-listings, hit pieces, public shamings, and schadenfreude seemed to never let up.
Why? Because people cared about unsuspecting retail getting hurt by $XRP and Ripple? LOL. Impossible, because hurting unsuspecting retail was the entire mission of the entire industry. People like that don't care about you getting lied to - they care about you finding something of actual value that they can't provide.
It is a story as old as time. The real villain was the industry itself. The insecurity and vanity and fear of the people who claimed they cared about technology and humanity. They didn't. They still don't. Most never will.
Morale is low in this industry because the party is over. Being a completely unqualified hack no longer carries the same weight. Shilling worthless garbage no longer pays. Tricking the public from your official X account by dangling some new marketing poison just doesn't seem to connect anymore. It's now build something real or die.
Good thing that's what Ripple and XRPL community has been doing for over a decade. Don't be fooled by the vanity metrics and propaganda of other chains. While some are certainly good, the real winning hasn't even started yet. All of this up until now has been the early rounds of survival. And XRP knows about survival better than anyone.
We have been actually battle tested. We have actually thought longterm. We are actual futurists. The funeral of the walking dead coins is nothing to shed a tear for - but instead an opportunity to realize that the only thing worth investing in is actual mass adoption. That's sustainable. That's noble. And clearly, it doesn't come easy. It comes with conviction and resilience and faith.
Here's to a wash-out of the toxic actors and projects and coins and a rise of the good ones. It's time to turn the page.
