Saying goodbye to Tugboat and Whit as we welcome a new group of Squirrels!
The #SFGiants made the following moves on Tuesday that impact the Richmond roster.
Sources: SS prospect San Francisco Giants Jhonny Level has been promoted to Eugene, High-A.
Level, 19, from Venezuela, hit .325 with 10 HR and 47 RBI over two months with San Jose in Single-A.
He is ranked as the Giants’ No. 4 prospect according to @MLBPipeline.
Tugboat's the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week! 🔥
Congratulations to Matt Wilkinson, whose seven-inning, one-hit outing last Wednesday against Akron earned him Eastern League honors.

I’m a massive believer in Jonah Cox, and he potentially brings a LOT of things this team needs. But 183 upper level PA and none in AAA runs a massive risk of ruining a prospect. Reeks of desperation. But that said, very happy for Jonah!
@scowo99 So I may ultimately be wrong in this case (even though I’m not actually predicting anything negative come from this), but I’m just disagreeing with the process. I think it’s bad overall practice and not a smart way to operate.
@scowo99 Yeah ultimately my feelings have nothing to do with the player and everything with the process in which the org develops players. Imo stuff like this is why they’re consistently one of the worse orgs developing productive major leaguers and they deserve zero benefit of the doubt.
@scowo99 Not sure how applicable timelines from 40 years ago are to today’s game. Game is much faster now and it’s way less common for guys to be up and dominating as young as back then I feel.
@scowo99 Guys aren’t highly regarded until they suddenly are. He’s made some adjustments to his bat path that have allowed him to cut down on his Ks, GB% and stay inside the ball netter to use oppo more.
@scowo99 And when you’re talking a guy with a 70 grade rim tool and 70 grade glove in CF, you don’t want to potentially ruin him as a hitter when he has the potential to be a high end leadoff guy.
@scowo99 The risk is he’s not ready and you either needlessly started his clock or needlessly destroy his confidence to a point where he may or may not recover. There is absolutely major risk.
For my money he’s easily the best defensive OF in the system. They have some pretty talented defenders nowadays, but it isn’t particularly close. Cox is a special defender out there.
Vitello envisions Cox playing center, word is he’s the best defensive outfielder in the entire organization. He’s likely to start in center field tomorrow.
