#NowWatching ‘Valkyrie’ (2008) trying to finish my cruise filmography watch before Digger, all I know is that it’s a WWII movie and it has the famous Tom Cruise cake shot
Genuinely why does it take the perspective of non-Jews for Hollywood and audiences to have sympathy for Jews in Holocaust movies. I get that watching Jews be separated from their families and killed in camps is horrifying and not enjoyable for audiences but it actually happened.
I really hate the holocaust movie genre of “let’s focus on a non-Jew who gains sympathy for and helps the Jews” when that was so rare and is similar to a “white saviour” trope. Even if it’s a true story like this or Schindler’s list (which is a great film and made me sob)
