My beautiful Lulu helping me with my summer book study. This year: Provocations for Learning in Early Years Settings (Margaret Longstaffe), Observing Learning in Early Childhood (Stella Louis), & Through A Child's Eyes (Sandra Duncan, Jody Martin and Sally Haughey). #reggio
@heymrsbond I said this when my family's last cat together died while I was living overseas. A year later... the cat distribution system found me. So now I'm in love again... And waiting for the inevitable. My heart is both full of joy and sorrow.
I cannot imagine what it's like- trapped in a cage, burning alive. Breathing fire and smoke. Thousands dead. When is #bangkok going to put a stop to this illegal trade (a trade that's on display for all the world to see)? And now, this. #chatuchak https://t.co/SyD9kNToGL
@MichaelPalagi@RajLadva Hi Michael, thank you for sharing your insights on integrating STEAM into the EY! It was enlightening to hear how it has become a part of daily play, rather than a separate activity. Thanks for all you do and to @RajLadva for organising! Can't wait for the next one!
I am lucky to be part of an Early Childhood Centre that values children's voices and rights, acknowledges their strengths and encourages them to take the lead. Every child deserves to be empowered. #bangkok#curiouskindcreative#playislearning

Note the inclusion of K on the Foundations Continuum! 🎉
Interrupting a child’s inborn desire to explore and discover to give them a lesson in letters, numbers or reading is like painting a house before the foundation is built. It discourages them from working on what is really important, and wastes both our child’s time and ours.
In a world of "data" and "measurement"- this new tool for play in early childhood education is a step in the right direction! Thank you @LEGOfoundation#playislearning#PlayMatters
Introducing our new measurement tools Playful Learning Across the Years and Teacher RePlay, developed and piloted for caregivers, educators and organisations to support play, child-centred learning, and exploration.

The use of animals for entertainment and profit has no place in our society. @disney@JimmyKimmelLive have missed a chance to raise awareness about the exploitation of animals in captivity. Do your part to advocate for a world where animals are treated with respect and dignity.
WFFT is disappointed to learn that @Disney, @jimmykimmel & @HalleBailey have been promoting cruel wildlife performances in Thailand, where endangered orangutans dressed in human clothes are forced to pose, kiss & fondle tourists. Read our full statement: https://t.co/g83HOb8YCx
@nadine1osborne@GiftedTawk Same here! It's a number that's very, very interesting to them as they love being 4 and 5. Then they tell me I'm older than their mum and dad. Or the same age as grandma (I'm 38!). 😁
When a flower doesn't bloom... We need to give learners the time and agency to play and explore. When I feel overwhelmed by the pressure and expectations of teaching in 2023, this will be by mantra.
For some time I’ve been researching this: what are the conditions in which learning thrives?
My observations...
💡Agency
💡Curiosity
💡Play
💡Guidance
💡Self-regulation
💡Exploration
💡Empathy
💡Time
💡Compassion
💡Voice

Instead of a resolution, I am using #onelittleword2023 to give me purpose and a sense of direction so that I can recentre and find my balance. Here's to 2023!
flourish
1. to grow luxuriantly : THRIVE
2. to achieve success : PROSPER
1.
I write in my book about my three roles when working with children.
What is also interesting about these roles is that there is not a set ratio for how much of each I am - it's not a third of each to make it a whole
"This is not my feeling. This is not my opinion. This is not my philosophy. These are the facts as far as we can currently determine them...For the sake of our children,we must demand play-based education because, damn it,that's what the evidence tells us."😍
