I think that you can tell a lot about someone's media literacy / critical thinking skills based off of how they feel about the TADC finale. Obviously, you can dislike it, there's no harm in that, but I think that people who fail to understand what the show was really about and the core messages being conveyed aren't thinking about it critically enough; they're taking things at face value and failing to understand the core themes.

The show has never been some big story with tons of worldbuilding and external lore (e.g. things like C&A, how the Circus works, etc.). It's always been about the characters — how they interact with one another, how they grow as a person, and their flaws, struggles, and more. The finale was primarily centered around Jax because she's been the driving force of the plot pretty much the whole time, especially around the end. We were constantly shown this flawed character who's actions consistently impacted others, for better or for worse; it makes sense that the big climax of the story would be the climax of her story.

Personally, I believe this misinterpretation of the show is a big part of why a lot of people are disappointed or frustrated with the ending; they were under the impression that TADC is a story about these characters reaching a climax point rather than a story about the characters themselves, if that makes sense. They wanted something more like Episode 8, with Caine going berserk.

Either way, I'm really satisfied with how it ended. I've personally had a bit of an epiphany in response to Jax's story, it really hit close to home and there's a message that I really needed to hear from it. Thank you, Gooseworx, and everyone at Glitch, for producing such a phenomenal piece of media; I'm happy to have been along for the ride.
