@tyler_ellison@DevineGospel Unfortunately the rule isn’t just be in the batters box at 8 seconds, it’s to be engaged with the pitcher when there’s 8 seconds left. Either way it’s spring training and it felt like that ump was waiting for his moment to make that call all game which was lame
@bdez559@ValChillmerz@itsfedex Yeah on paper we should be World Series contenders but when your record in 1 run games is 10-28 they were the definition of unclutch last year and didn’t figure out how to play like a team until the last month of baseball and that’s not gonna cut it
@rene_usmc@AndrsnMusic@itsfedex I’m not gonna argue online with some dude who made a career chewing on crayons. Pay attention next time when everyone is literally saying take the $70mil AAV luxury tax hit and not the $46mil hit for deferment allowing THE TEAM $24mil in tax relief. That messes with competiveness
@bdez559@ValChillmerz@itsfedex It’s all competitive in nature so choosing the dodgers makes sense, y’all got continued success to make the playoffs and the roster is scary good. If the deferment didn’t happen the roster is still stacked, but this makes it unfair lol
@bdez559@ValChillmerz@itsfedex I remember hearing Ohtani wanted to go to a team without an Asian superstar in their history or something along those lines and then of course wanting to play with the best player at the time: Mike Trout. I wouldn’t exactly say small market now cause Arte changed the name to LAA
@rene_usmc@AndrsnMusic@itsfedex Dude you can talk to me like an adult or stay mad, but other sports have a salary cap for competitive reasons. It lets smaller market teams compete with signing high value players instead of being bullied out by teams with deep pockets. You have really dense thinking skills
@rene_usmc@AndrsnMusic@itsfedex Yeah that’s exactly my point are you that stupid? What point did you just make instead of making yourself look like an ass?
@bdez559@ValChillmerz@itsfedex The Padres started a motion of small market teams to start spending and I want that to continue for baseball but who can honestly match a $700mil contract? Betts and Ohtani contracts combined are worth more than the Miami Marlins
@bdez559@ValChillmerz@itsfedex Currently the two examples I keep getting shown are Betts and Freeman and they’re in the ~30% range which I could see them capping in that area. But 97% of a $700mil contract is comically absurd
@AndrsnMusic@rene_usmc@itsfedex Nice made up scenarios you keep coming up with “if if if if” to justify losing, then the lame ass disses. If I wanted a boring soundtrack I’d just listen to your music my guy
@rene_usmc@AndrsnMusic@itsfedex I’m the mad one? Quite literally step out of the echo chamber you guys got going on here and see what the general consensus is then get back to me. As I said before this is going to start a salary cap era in baseball for the better, but yeah I’m just salty nice argument 🥱
@bdez559@ValChillmerz@itsfedex Where was it reported other teams could have done this as well? $700mil is an insane price tag, initial talks were in the $600mil range so what you’re saying the dodgers upped the price with that deal in mind? That could make sense but still ruins the competitive nature
@bdez559@ValChillmerz@itsfedex Ohtani is worth 10 WAR, the value of being able to field a player with a hit of only 46mil and be one of the best pitchers AND hitters in baseball is insane value. He just gave them 24mil to add another player on top of that so they’re getting much more value that no one else can
@bdez559@itsfedex I understand that yes, Ohtani wants to win and he’s never made the playoffs. I don’t mind he felt he chose a team that can bring him that success and pay him but from a competitive standpoint this just screwed over a lot of teams cause a salary cap isn’t in place. That’s the issue
