Edmonton police have changed their policy on releasing names of homicide victims.
Police had withheld names unless there was a need to help with the investigation.
Chief Dale McFee says names will be released if it doesn’t hurt an investigation and next of kin have been notified.
The province of Alberta, in western Canada, is making it easier for immigrants to get their credentials recognized. Premier Jason Kenney says highly trained immigrants often spend years trying to get licenced. Licensing bodies will have to review credentials in a timely manner.
The 5,000 residents of High Level on northern Alberta, have been told to get ready to leave their homes as wildfires continue to rage near the community. Last month the town was evacuated because of the fires.
