There may be something to this.
Strength of Record currently has 3–0 West Virginia at #23 — without using poll position or preseason reputation as inputs.
A reference top-level team would be expected to win about 1.8 games against WVU’s exact schedule and venues. WVU has won all 3.
Interestingly, SOR doesn’t even classify Virginia as a “Quality Win” under its strict 1550+ Elo threshold.
The record is starting to make its own argument.
