@DallasLewis_Aus @AustralianLabor Looks like they’re making good on their pre-election hints that they would govern by austerity. They’ll be a one term government if they keep this shit up. I’ve had to tune #Auspol out to stop losing my shit. We’re fucked.
@mrbenjaminlaw They’re approaching the final doorstep of their lives, hence the DGAF ‘tude. When I’m 80 I’m gonna go to the shops in uggboots and pyjamas and extend a middle finger to any disapproving persons 😎
@DallasLewis_Aus I’ve thought for a while that America needs to completely destroy itself before it can be repaired. Nothing short of a revolution will do now. Unfortunately that means becoming a failed, fascist state first. It’s gonna be ugly and scary 😧
@sallymcmanus Operate a cafe in Sydney with high rent, high input costs and very tight margins. But yes, we pay about 15% above award. It’s we the owners who bare the cost by paying ourselves poorly. Hospitality is brutal.
@MikeCarlton01 Can we refer to them now as ‘the Government’ rather than ‘Labor’ in general? When the LNP is in government people refer to them as ‘the Government’. The ‘Labor’ label delegitimises them as a party of government in my view.
@Jason_Restante It’s not even a user-pay system, since HECS is a federal tax and as such doesn’t pay for anything. It’s just punishment for getting a tertiary education.
@DallasLewis_Aus @Platinum2022 @sophieelsworth Bread and circus on a grandiose scale is a core element of subjugation of the people. Britain is far more neoliberal than Aus. That’s not a coincidence.
@DallasLewis_Aus If we use the simple Lincolnian definition of democracy — ‘Government of the People, by the People, for the People’ — then no, America has never been a democracy, but neither has anywhere else. We live in a coercive corporate plutocracy. We’re perpetually being gaslit.
