Empty rooms are eerie.

Empty lunar bases would be worse.

Rockets get you to orbit. Culture gets you to stay.

Wednesday morning, we fill this room.

October 7. 8:30 AM. The Ion, Forum Stairs, Houston. Free, with breakfast.

Every person on that stage on October 7th is there for a specific reason. None of them are there by accident.

Wrote out why this event had to happen before New Worlds Faire, why these four people, and why the Ion.

1/ Earlier this week: leaving Earth is a purpose question, not a technology one. Rick Tumlinson didn't just argue that. He acted on it, decades before writing Why Space?

Scott Solomon spent his career studying evolution. I asked him why leaving Earth might change what we become, not just where we struggle.

His answer:

"The entire evolutionary history of our species has been shaped by our planet, with constant conditions like gravity and atmospheric pressure making us who we are. Leaving our planet means we will face new conditions and becoming something different.

Biologists have long known that species living in isolation evolve into new species. Whether it's on islands like the Galapagos or planets in space, we should expect evolutionary changes in future generations of space settlers."

That's the argument behind Becoming Martian. Scott joins us Oct 7th at the Ion.

You watch launches alone at 2am. You read the mission page before the price. That's not random. That's recognition.

1) Rick, in Why Space?: blood doesn't make a family. Shared purpose does.

49 years ago today, Voyager 2 launched from Cape Canaveral.

It’s still operating in interstellar space—and its longevity tells us something important about what it actually takes to become spacefaring.

We are entering the era of the Breakout: the moment humanity moves from access to space toward development, settlement, and permanence.

That transition needs an institution built for it. That's what New Worlds Institute is.

Culturally, this normalizes space as routine commerce not just gov exploration 👨‍🚀

Shifts perspective, views NewSpace economy as an extension of the terrestrial economy 📈

Sec. Lutnick highlights NewSpace as economic growth accelerator, boosting STEM, & national pride🇺🇸

Starpipe is straight 🔥

@SpaceX building its own pipeline to ditch the tanker fleet? This is the infrastructure grind that unlocks dozens → hundreds → thousands of launches.

@elonmusk Earth is not enough for the compute that's needed.

We need a sustainable interplanetary economy.

A cultural layer is needed to move that economy in the right direction. That layer is #SpaceCulture.

@EarthLightOrg is cultivating that layer

[Junaid Mian, RPh @junaidmianrph]

Exactly!

#3 is the most important.

The cultural layer for the emerging NewSpace economy, and humanity in general, will not be limited by geography , but more by mindset.

@EarthLightOrg is cultivating that #SpaceCulture.

[Junaid Mian, RPh @junaidmianrph]

All good, but without the right culture to avail the opportunities, we'll be repeating the same mistakes we always have. It'll be tragic if we do because AI can help us avoid "Groundhog Day."

Let's break the programming and rise to the occasion 🚀

@EarthLightOrg is cultivating the cultural OS to reach beyond our limitations. That OS is called #SpaceCulture.
