Earth Science / Geology content from a Geologist. My goals are to help educate and entertain people. The Earth is a fascinating place with lots to learn about!
A new video is live! This one covers real vs fake multi-mineral combos. Even if I never get enough views to monetize, I'll happily keep exposing scammers so they make less money.

A new video is live for Earth Week and what we can do to help our planet! Feel free to share to help spread awareness/outreach. https://t.co/qMjFvZ97Rq

I did some recycling for #earthday this year. Metal cans, glass bottles, plastic milk jugs, and cardboard all went to my local recycling center. I hope everyone had a nice Earth Day (April 22nd), and Earth Week! Feel free to share what you did for Earth Day in the comments too.
Windowed fire agate from Aguascalientes, Mexico. I polished all of these. Planning on adding these to the etsy store as I get time to photograph them! #fireagate#minerals#rocks
Mini geodes and thundereggs from Colorado! The one on the left has really sparkly druzy quartz, but it's tough to capture in just a photo. I sliced and polished these the other day. #geodes#thundereggs#rocks
I'm back with another video! This one is on Amethyst Sage agate from Nevada. It is beautiful material, often filled with manganese dendrites and other inclusions.

New rhodochrosite polished specimens are available! They are live on my Etsy page and I also made a short video to showcase them. More rock and mineral stuff coming soon:

A fun druzy quartz geode from southern Colorado that I cut and polished the other day. This one shows 3 crystallization events. First was quartz near the geode shell, then chalcedony, and finally a layer of druzy quartz.
I just finished up a new video! This one covers some different types of mineralization found in fossil dinosaur bone. Also added the specimens to the Etsy shop for those interested! #fossils#geology#dinosaurs#Science

A southern Colorado thunderegg half from my recent lapidary tutorial video. This specimen has quartz, banded agate, and a small vug with druzy quartz in the center. The round masses in the shell are cristobalite spherules.
I just finished a video on how to cut and polish small thundereggs. I used to teach lapidary classes and figured this type of content may be interesting to some. Share if you'd like to see more! #lapidary#geodes#Geology#rocks

It's really unfortunate bluebird went this route, and sold out the shareholder's future. Not sure if that's even legal, but it certainly seems unfair. I wish I could believe in investing in biotech, because the research and treatments are amazing. #Biotechnology#stocks
When something seems wrong/scummy in my opinion, I call it out. I don't often cover non-earth science topics, but this is a big one and very suspicious. It's about bluebird bio and their shareholders being told to sell out in a "definitive" press release.

@rocksforthe That transparency is incredible! Excellent faceting work as well. Feldspars are a tricky one to cut and the angle of the flash has to be just right. Whoever cut this knew exactly what to do!
