Next meeting! April 15, Glen Vue at 7.30pm. James Dickinson on the Bayeux Tapestry. Remarkable both as a work of art and important as a source for 11th-century history. The talk will tell the story of the tapestry and illustrate and explain most of the important scenes!
Next meeting! March 18, 7.30pm at Glen Vue with Ian Everest on The Women's Land Army. A fascinating and little-known subject and a key part of the war effort in two world wars.
Next meeting! A special meeting on the nearby gem that is the Priest House in West Hoathly. Added bonus is that its Christmas drinks and mince pies too. A meeting not to be missed: December 17 at Glen Vue, 7.30pm.
Great news that the Fountain is fixed! Thanks to South East Water, water quality issues are resolved. It's vital the Town makes the most of this facility to keep it viable.
November 19 AGM! As usual papers will go out before the meeting to ensure a swift business session. Main attraction will follow with local personalities Bryan Wiliamson and Richard Evans with a wide-ranging conversation o their lives and East Grinstead!
Next meeting, October 15 at Glen Vue. Penny Harris talking on a Wealden Woman’s War: a true story. It covers the war years, starting in 1940 with Edwina’s story of her life in the WAAF, meeting a one-legged Spitfire Pilot and their subsequent marriage and life together.
As summer fades, the Society returns! Next meeting on September 17 with local author & speaker Ros Black on an amazing woman, Grace Kimmins, whose work with the disabled and disadvantaged is still remembered today at Chailey Heritage. 7.30pm, Glen Vue.
Important meeting on July 16: Open Forum with new Town Mayor John Belsey. A chance to hear from John and ask questions about Town issues. Followed by summer drinks and plenty of social times!
