Things got heated in the Oval Office this evening as the remaining members of the White House press pool challenged Trump on his decision to ban MS NOW, CNN, and POLITICO from the White House, and he did not appreciate the questioning.
One brave reporter, a woman, reminded him that “freedom of the press is enshrined in the 1st Amendment,” prompting Trump to interrupt her and sneer “oh, thank you for telling me.”
She wouldn’t be dissuaded and demanded to know if Trump was trying to intimidate the press (he is).
Trump got mad. “No, I dislike dishonest press like you. I think you’re terrible. But I dislike dishonest press, I like honest press.”
The condescension and sheer hatred he feels for female reporters drips from his voice with every word.
Donald Trump is at his most authoritarian when it comes to the media. He can’t stand any kind of criticism or the meagerest hint of information that threatens the tower of delusion and paranoia that he inhabits in his tiny, French-fry-oil-soaked brain.

3 KILLED, 1 INJURED IN NBC LOS ANGELES HELICOPTER CRASH
Aerial footage shows the aftermath of an NBC Los Angeles news helicopter crash in Chatsworth, near a deadly SUV-bus collision.
Fire officials say three people were killed and one injured.
The helicopter crashed between two commercial buildings, with the aircraft and nearby vehicles engulfed in flames.
This is Warren Wilson Road in Swannanoa NC, a short distance from my house. It runs from Highway 70, through Warren Wilson College (which is at the top of the hill in the photo), along the north side of the Swannanoa River through the town of Swannanoa, and on to Black Mountain.
The bridge spans Bee Tree Creek. On the left just across the bridge is Owen’s Park, which was devastated by Hurricane Helene and is still closed, and a manufacturing facility that you can see has a “for sale” sign in front of it.
Hurricane Helene caused Bee Tree Creek to flood and that took out the bridge. We’re less than 2 weeks away from the 2 year anniversary of that natural disaster. A temporary bridge was put in place. It’s only one lane, so traffic has to take turns crossing the creek. There’s been no activity to rebuild a permanent two-lane bridge.
In January 2025, less than a mile from the Bee Tree Creek bridge, Trump stood in Swannanoa and announced that Michael Whatley was the Hurricane Helene Recovery Czar and we’d build back bigger, better, and more beautiful.
Under Whatley’s “leadership,” Western North Carolina received a tiny fraction of the federal assistance areas normally receive after a major natural disaster. As a result, there are scores of other hurricane damage sites like the Bee Tree Creek bridge that remain unfixed due to a lack of funding.
The Tar Heel Taliban . . . sorry, I mean the North Carolina Republican Party . . . knows that Michael Whatley can’t run on the merits of what he did as the Hurricane Helene Recovery Czar because he was an abysmal failure and Western North Carolinians are still suffering as a result of his incompetence. So, they have to try and smear Roy Cooper to prop up their pathetic candidate.
North Carolina deserves better than Michael Whatley and the NCGOP.
