Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot and Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo have jointly sponsored a bill seeking to abolish the requirement for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to live-stream presidential election results.
The proposed amendment seeks to delete Section 39 of the Elections Act, which mandates the IEBC to facilitate live broadcasts of results. According to the bill, these broadcasts are for informational purposes only and do not form the basis for official election declarations.
Instead, the amendment recommends that the IEBC continues to post results online for public access but emphasizes that physical delivery of results will be the only official method for declarations.

Abiy Ahmed told his top officials (listen to this video) that those who commit atrocious crimes in Ethiopia are his appointees in the PP administration. He admitted that he knows that people are being slaughtered and the perpetrators are his own men. If the man says “I am the killer, I did slaughter civilians, I burnt them alive” for whatever intention, it is misleading and irresponsible to point fingers elsewhere.
Everyone must stand up to end these mass atrocities before the regime presses the button of horrendous horizontal inter-communal bloodshed.
Situations like this often require a coordinated effort and urgent intervention from local communities, cross-communal leaderships, elites of various nationalities, religious leaders, academic elites, business communities, and international bodies to prevent atrocities and protect civilians.
