एक व्यक्ति जो दिन भर में तीन से चार बा��� ��ेपर कप चाय पीता है वह हर दिन लगभग 75 हजार सूक्ष्म प्लास्टिक कण निगल रहा है. यह चौंकाने वाला खुलासा आईआईटी खड़गपुर के एक शोधकर्ता ने अपनी एक रिसर्च में किया है। यदि आप रोजाना पेपर कप में चाय या कॉफी पी रहे हैं तो यह आपके कैंसर का जोखिम बढ़ा सकता है। इतना ही नहीं इससे हार्मोन में गड़बड़ी,प्रतिरक्षा प्रणाली का कमजोर होना,पाचन तंत्र पर असर यहां तक की आनुवंशिक स्तर पर भी क्षति हो सकती है!
IIT खड़गपुर स��कूल आफ मेडिकल साइंस एंड टेक्नोलॉजी के वैज्ञानिकों ने पाया कि जब गर्म चाय या कॉफी को पेपर कप में डाला जाता है तो कप के भितर�� प्लास्टिक कोटिंग माइक्रोप्लास्टिक कण निकलकर पेय में घुल जाते है.15 मिनट के भीतर एक कप चाय में लगभग 25 हजार माइक्रोप्लास्टिक कण मिल जाते हैं.

विशेषज्ञों का सुझाव है कि पेय पदार्थ के लिए स्टील,कांच, चीनी मिट्टी के बर्तन कब का प्रयोग करें. पेपर कप की बजाए थर्मल कप या स्टील कप इस्तेमाल करें.
