All hints point to Chefchaouen, the "blue pearl" of Morocco.
An ancient kingdom with the current Alaouite dynasty ruling since the 17th century.
It has a uniquely diversified culture, featuring Andalusian,Berber,Arab and historical Jewish influences.
It served as a strategic mountain outpost and trade station, connecting the Rif mountain interior with coastal cities thereby facilitating trade and also serving as a gateway between the two locations.
Nothing in this place is as it seems, it looks like a beautiful,picturesque "blue alley" alone but Sephardic Jews believe the blue symbolizes the sky,heaven or closeness to God although locals cite reasons like mosquito repelling or simply aesthetic symbolism.
