I have this thing where I work best under pressure. Give me a tight deadline and I’ll deliver. (𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥?😩)

Give me two weeks and I’ll spend the first ten days convincing myself I still have time.

This is not the case when I have work Deadlines, deliverables, back-to-back tasks — I handle all of it.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥? 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐄? 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐭.

This project has been sitting in my head for a while. I knew what I wanted to do. I just kept pushing it. Until I finally said okay, let’s do this.
And here we are. Still not done, but it’s alive. 😩

I think a lot of us do this with the things we actually care about. We give our best energy to everything else and leave our own ideas on the back burner.

If you’re sitting on something right now — a project, an idea, something you keep saying you’ll start. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐮𝐭.

That’s literally how it might work, I guess.

Lesson learned:
If your visuals aren’t responding to filters, don’t rush to rewrite your measures.

Check your model.

Power BI is only as smart as your relationships.

I hit a wall in powerBI at 2am this morning.

I spent hours debugging a Power BI dashboard today… only to realize the problem wasn’t my DAX.

My visuals showed the right totals, but refused to respond to filters.

The moment I fixed the relationships (especially cross-filter direction), everything clicked instantly. The same measures I had doubted started working perfectly.

That moment changed how I think about Power BI.

I hopped on the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate as well. I found a huge knowledge gap that needed to be filled and structured.

What helped me:

A simple flow—
Understand the data → Identify stakeholders → Ask the right questions → Define KPIs → Analyze → Communicate insights

The shift?

From “what can I build?”
To “what problem am I solving?”

One thing I’ve learned in data analytics:

Having data ≠ having direction.

Most times, we’re given datasets with instructions.

But in reality, you’re given data and expected to think.

That’s where many beginners get stuck.

There are 2 ways to approach analysis:

1. Question-driven → You’re given a question, then find data

2. Data-driven → You’re given data, then figure out the questions

The second is harder…

But that’s where real analysis begins.
