Today is a special day in our county’s educational calendar. This day will remain etched in the minds of ECDE educators, education staff, parents, and the ECDE fraternity as the first county among the 11 ASAL COUNTIES to transit to digital learning. Today, we are celebrating the EIDU digital curriculum and honoring the hardworking and dedicated team at the Department of Education. They truly deserve our recognition and praise. The capable administration of the County Department of Education has lived up to its expectations, driven by the zeal and vigor to disseminate knowledge, skills, and attitude, unlock infinite possibilities, and elevate ECDE education to new heights. Today, we take pride in digitizing education. Our efforts align perfectly with the theme of the day:“unveiling of the digital curriculum for 21st-century ECDE learners in Marsabit County, making learning simplified”.
Today I stand before you to unveil the Digital Curriculum for Early Years Education. This initiative marks a significant leap forward in our commitment to providing quality education that is accessible, inclusive, and future-ready. Digital literacy is a critical skill in 21st-century citizenship and one of the seven core competencies in Kenya's current competence-based curriculum.
Beloved County men, The Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC) which I chair, has partnered with EIDU Kenya to implement the EIDU digital learning program. This will benefit over 150,000 pre-primary learners. The digital learning program has been infused into the classroom program, The EIDU digital platform allows real-time observation, monitoring, and Evaluation of educational programs and the progress of every learner and teaching, this real-time assessment and evaluation will enhance timely and effective interventions to ensure quality education for every child and assess and demand quality teaching from every educator.
My administration has partnered with EIDU and embraced a technology-enhanced platform that integrates high-impact interventions into a single, coherent system that is easy to use by teachers, pupils, and government officials. The technology has helped teachers plan and deliver their lessons, accelerate learning for children, and enable monitoring of school and classroom performance. I am delighted to share with you that I can from the comfort of my desk make observations and monitor learning programs and progress. Thanks to EIDU's cutting-edgetechnology.
The EIDU Tayari methodology has also simplified teachers' work by providing digitalized lesson plans, enhancing quality teaching, structured lesson delivery, and effective teaching and learning in a classroom setup.
Marsabit County has benefited from tailored educational programs designed to meet our county-specific needs. This comprehensive rollout underscores our commitment to making quality education accessible to every learner, regardless of their location.
I am proud to share that to date, all 4 sub-counties have received the learning devices with the EIDU digital learning platform, completed training of their ECD officers and ECD teachers, and have activated the digital interactive tool in their ECD classrooms.
A total of 360 ECDE centers translating to over 19,000 learners from across the four sub-counties of Laisamis, North Horr, Saku, and Moyale are benefiting from the EIDU digital program.
19,000 learners and 547 teachers have been trained and are implementing the EIDU digital learning program in Marsabit.
I thank all our partners for the support they have provided for this program.
