This afternoon I paid a courtesy call on my UoN Med School teacher whoโs the founding father of Rheumatology in Kenya and the region - the legendary Prof. George Omondi Oyoo - after speaking earlier and requesting a visit to his clinic.
Interestingly, despite Prof. Oyoo having interacted with members of my DKL team at conferences including Kenya Association of Physicians (KAP) meeting - which I missed this year in Mombasa while attending WCN in Tokyo Japan - and also interacting with our laboratory reports over time, this was actually my very first one-on-one meeting with him since founding Dr. Kalebi Labs (DKL) one and a half years ago.
I made the short trip from DKL to his clinic and, despite his incredibly busy schedule, we had a brief but very rich, insightful and engaging discussion around lab medicine, diagnostics, rheumatology and the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape in Kenya and the region.
I was particularly humbled and encouraged by his kind remarks on the innovativeness, uniqueness and clinician-oriented approach of our lab reporting systems at DKL.
Prof. Oyoo has always been an immensely inspirational physician, academic and mentor whose towering contribution to rheumatology, medical training, research and patient care across Africa continues to impact generations of clinicians. His remarkable academic accomplishments - including earning two PhDs - reflect a lifelong commitment to excellence, scholarship and service.
I now look forward to welcoming Prof. Oyoo to DKL soon as per our discussion in order to showcase our first-of-its-kind ultramodern homegrown lab as we explore further shaping rheumatology lab practice in the New Era of Laboratory Medicine ๐๐พ๐ฉบ

President Ruto tells G7 leaders that the future of global growth will be shaped in Africa, home to the workforce, market and critical minerals powering tomorrowโs economy. The call is partnership, not extraction.

@YaaMaragoliBa A parent raises a child for over 12 years before joining high school. And you want to blame the teacher for the child's conduct? Teachers are an easy scape goat
