Our ECISD Trustees adopted the tax rate for the 2025-26 school year; slightly lower than last year's tax rate. Read more about what it means and catch up on the progress of Bond 2023 projects with the agenda recap - https://t.co/qj9ntMbgPk.
It came to our attention that employees of Ector County ISD had posted social media comments that do not reflect the values or expectations placed upon educators in our school district. One employee, a part-time tutor, will no longer work for ECISD, and a second is on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. In addition, as directed by the Texas Education Agency last week, these will be reported to TEA’s Educator Investigations Division as will any others discovered in the future.
Certainly, employees have the right to express their personal opinions and participate in public discourse on their own time, however, we expect staff members to refrain from vile and hateful comments about others or comments that advocate, endorse or glorify violence. Such content is unacceptable, could constitute a violation of the Educators Code of Ethics and school district policy, and will not be tolerated.
The district has not received reports of such comments being made by teachers in classrooms to students or to other staff members.
Being an educator requires a degree of public trust not found in many other positions of public employment, we are role models for students and the community, and respect and professionalism are paramount. Ector County ISD is committed to creating safe, respectful learning environments for all students and all staff members.
