Nare Elhelo is a 26-year-old single woman from Gaza who lives with her ten family members in a rented tent on a rooftop. They pay $900 each month for the space. Since the genocide began, the family has been forced to evacuate four times. Her father, who has serious heart problems, can no longer work and needs $300 a month for medication. Her mother suffers from chronic stomach issues and requires $100 monthly for treatment. Nare’s 25-year-old brother, who had become the family’s main provider after their father fell ill, was injured in a bombing when shrapnel collapsed one of his lungs; he is now also unable to work. Nare and her sister are trying to continue their university studies online, since every campus in Gaza has been destroyed, but each needs $850 per semester to do so. With no steady income, the family is struggling to cover rent, medical costs, food, and other basic needs. As winter approaches, they urgently require a new tent and warm clothing for all eleven members. Nare hopes one day to finish her education and support her family through her own work, but right now they need immediate help to keep going.
In the 1990s, about 160 black churches were burnt down by the KKK. Many of which held entire families, including little girls like shown in this piece. The violence of black people, especially little girls, is extremely overlooked. https://t.co/08L41sQpYF
