@hertaxclaire The teaser was in first person because they didn't want to reveal it immediately. Safe to say it will be a over the shoulder third person game with the option for a first person perspective like Requiem
@LuckBly@slothsaretight3 RE as a game series starts fairly grounded and turns into anime nonsense after RE3. The only post-3 mainline game that feels like it belongs in the same universe is 7. RE4 and 5 were a complete departures from survival horror
I wouldn't say it has a consistent identity
@LuckBly@slothsaretight3 It had it in the first three games. It gradually lost it since Code Veronica, where the series jumped the shark and paved the way for RE4, 5 and 6. It's the most inconsistent game series in terms of tone and genre to the point that it barely has an identity at this point
@PKing1113@DiscussingFilm Not really. Tone, atmosphere, gameplay and the premise made the early games. The setting was much more of a character than Leon, Jill, Chris and Claire combined
@LuckBly@slothsaretight3 Because RE itself as a franchise barely has an identity. As long as it's close in tone and atmosphere and keeps the basic premise, I don't see the issue. The monster of the movie could fit well within the RE universe, given how close it is to Nyx in concept
@LuckBly@slothsaretight3 Because it's s reintepretation of the source material. It's not meant to fit within the same continuity of the games. It's not mandatory to have the same monsters, you can have new ones as long as they are still rooted in biopunk
@LuckBly@slothsaretight3 It doesn't take place in 1998. In this version the incident is set in the modern days
While it would be neat to see some of the monsters from the series, not the lickers because they are becoming way too familiar. Which is a death sentence for the scare factor of a monster
@PKing1113@DiscussingFilm Resident Evil was never about the characters. Biotech companies causing outbreaks, body horror, feeling of isolation, fancy architectures=the recipee for RE, both in game and movie format. Case in point RE7, which was the first game close to the spirit of the originals in years
@Dextmatt5865884 Nemesis itself was pretty lame. I didn't mind the redesign of its first form that much, but one thing they never got right after RE3 is the voice
Nemesis said "stars" in the original, not "StOOooOoRs"
@Niflheimm155983 RE6 was very poorly received back then and people were claiming that the series completely lost its way. That isn't revisionism, claiming it wasn't so bad is. When people talk about which game killed or saved the series, they aren't talking about sales
@narfeyeron Her healing factor was already a major asspull because the G-virus doesn't really heal damaged tissues but replaces them with tumorous growths due to its unstable cellular reproduction
@JakedChinatown Back when Kojima had a staff that told him "no dude, that's retarded" whenever he came up with something dumb. I like the guy, but he needs people around him that keep him in check
@DeanGagaKennedy The idea for Revelations 3 was about Jill investigating about the BSAA's corruption and perceiving herself as gradually mutating into a monster while using her powers. If they remove the thing about powers or tone it down but keep the mutation thing, I could see it working
