A 1968 paper commissioned by the American Petroleum Institute warned that burning #FossilFuels would drive up temperatures.
Forgotten for decades, the research was rediscovered & is now playing a key role in climate lawsuits against #BigOil.

Celebrations at E-Hive pop-up HUB Beacon Centre last night. Coordinators, volunteers, friends came together to celebrate a successful project to facilitate eco conversations with the public & bringing groups together. Almost the end of the 6 week trail period #climatejusticenow
In response to the unilinear story of destruction in this piece, I am doing a little mini-series on examples of positive, more complex and dynamic human/biodiversity interactions for each day of #COP15 over on #mastodon - come over to find out more 😊

*Breaking news* the first @InsulateLove protesters to be tried by a jury have all been acquitted of public nuisance, despite the trial judge refusing mention of climate change or fuel poverty. Remember: if you are on a jury, you have an absolute right to acquit for any reason!
It was really great to learn from @mew1oo about his work with @Article25 in Dominica, helping build storm and earthquake resilient new houses. And about the traditional architectures of the indigenous Kalinago people of the Caribbean, which largely survived the storms
Yesterday, some of the best of humanity came together on the Aldersbrook in Ilford to uncover a river so choked in plastic & rubbish it had ceased to flow. With a day of difficult & tiring work, they managed to uncover the river & begin bringing it back to life.
"Anti-oil fanatic". Every time I see a headline like this - so misleading, spiteful, stupid, damaging - I just want to cry. I hate living a world where our collective consciousness, mainstream media, is so out of sync with reality.

It was great hosting @PSutoris's at Goldsmiths Anthropology last week. Both paper and discussion were really stimulating - Peter is using ethnographic research so effectively to move education/activism conversations forward. And I loved this last slide!
Back from usual school drop off mayhem: the day can’t come soon enough that we see moving around with a 2 ton metal box around us wherever we go as just as crazy as those medieval metal armours
Good piece, but as a historical ecologist I would like to add: humans do not just either stay within boundaries or destroy nature. It's often been a positive, dynamic human-nature symbiosis, with humans actively shaping and creating forests & biodiversity

Yesterday I joined @ScientistX to resist the government’s #AttackOnNature in an act of civil disobedience.
With about 20 other scientists, I pasted key information on the windows of @DefraGovUK, the department of the environment
