AUTISTIC FOLKS ARE SOMETIMES KNOWN FOR BURNING BRIDGES. MYSELF INCLUDED (AT LEAST IN THE PAST). WE MAY ABRUPTLY CUT SOMEONE OUT OF OUR LIVES OR MAKE INTENSE SUDDEN 100% ALL IN ADJUSTMENTS. AND WE MIGHT SEEM TO DO THIS MORE THAN OTHERS.
SOME SAY IT'S BECAUSE OF BLACK & WHITE THINKING. SOME SAY IT'S BECAUSE OF PAST TRAUMA.
I WONDER IF IT'S BECAUSE WE OFTEN LET PEOPLE STEP ALL OVER US WHILE WE MASK AND CAMOUFLAGE -- AND WE DON'T SET BOUNDARIES UNTIL IT'S FAR TOO LATE.
one of the worst autistic experiences is finding out someone built a case against you in silence and never gave you one clear chance to understand or fix it.
My therapist told me:
the more emotionally aware you become, the less you personalize behavior. You realize how others treat you reflects their inner world, their healing, their limits, their emotional capacity. So when someone can't meet you with respect or care, remember; it's not your worth being measured. It's their ceiling being revealed.
Your "overthinking" is pattern recognition. Your "sensitivity" is emotional intelligence. Your "intensity" is focus and spiritual depth. Don't accept a pathologising narrative around your gifts.
Pattern Recognition is also the form of intelligence that causes the most stress.
You will see things that others do not.
You'll feel crazy.
Things will be *so obvious* to you, and others will just deny it.
