It's not lost on me that she's decrying Council for approving changes that she too approved: like use of reserves in THIS budget & another round of tax changes to preserve precious revenue. Recall her May letter (next tweet) negotiating w/Council on where the 1-time $ should go!
Baby Bonds are coming to Connecticut! Thanks to strong advocacy from our partners @CTVoices & the commitment of @ErickRussellCT, former @TreasurerWooden & legislators, CT families will have an opportunity to build brighter futures. https://t.co/MQbSwD6K8c
Victory! The Business and Economic Development Committee just passed the #DCDomesticWorkersBillofRights! Next up: 2 votes in the full council. We can’t wait to see the council pass this critically important legislation in December! #ItsTime
Congrats to @domesticworkers and everyone fighting for the #DCDomesticWorkersBillofRights! We’re calling on all the councilmembers on the Government Operations + Labor Committees to vote YES in the mark-ups today.
Today we’re on the verge of making history for domestic workers in DC! The #DCDomesticWorkersBillofRights is going to a vote in its first two committees. Stay tuned for updates throughout the day!
@NRA I call BS. By this logic, why do we have laws against anything? Should robbery, arson and other crimes be legal, because ppl will do them anyway? This tired argument needs to be retired along with the NRA.
NRA: Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.
Also NRA: We don’t feel safe having guns at our convention because guns kill people.

I wish I could be in Houston to protest the #NRAconvention, but since I can't, I'm sharing this sign from the 2018 March for Our Lives. I hope one day this sign will be outdated #GunControlNow

JUFJer Charlotte Hovland on her experience in direct service & why DC has to fund housing in the #DCBudget: "I would take their information, conduct an assessment, and encourage them to come in for meals and other services, but I couldn’t promise what they needed most: housing."
JUFJer @ccoopzz: "Ultimately, the District’s moral obligation is to ensure that everyone has stable housing. But in the interim, while we are a long way off from fulfilling that obligation, we must ensure that our civil rights laws protect people who are unhoused."
JUFJ organizer @Jenna_Israel: "DC can’t settle for just making sure folks have a roof over their heads even if that means moving from one house to another. We have to create the stability and security that build communities and turn a house into a home."
#DCBudget#EndTheCliff
JUFJer Shira Markoff on rapid rehousing: "A budget is a set of moral choices, showing whom and what we value most. DC’s budget should reflect the inherent worth of each and every resident by ensuring everyone has the dignity of a place to call home."
#DCBudget#EndTheCliff
JUFJer Ari Brickman: "There are two DCs: one where those with means are able to find safe housing that meets their needs and another where residents are pushed out, by rising costs of housing, of neighborhoods where their families may have lived for generations." #DCBudget
@AskTSA I'm bringing Covid rapid tests with me in carry-on. The tests contain vials with a small amount of liquid (see pic). Do I need to separate the vials from the test box and put them with my liquids, or should I leave them in the box so they're identifiable as covid tests?
