Great to see #Watervoles on @BBCSpringwatch the decline is serious and we should be doing all we can to help protect this wonderful native species. Our work provides vital data for organisations working to stop the decline.
That’s a wrap for us on this site. It’s been a tough couple of days for Lola. Very steep sided ditches and drains with dense vegetation but some great finds for her efforts.

Training this morning on some really easy finds. It’s a site we know well that has a great water vole population with gently sloping banks and easy vegetation.

Last day in East Yorkshire, 15km of ditch and dyke networks covered by Water Vole Detection Dog Lola. A huge coastal realignment on an already fabulous bit of coastline. A pleasure to be involved.
We will be at @tendringshow on Saturday. Come along and see our demonstrations in the pond Pond Arena; 10am, 12:30pm and 2:45pm. You can also meet some of the team on the stand and have a go at our sniff test!
Introducing new recruit Ludo. Ludo is joining team water vole and will be backing up Lola on some of our bigger surveys. #WaterVoleDetectionDog#workingcocker
The one that started it all has celebrated his 12th birthday today! Retired #WaterVoleDetectionDog Stig has been very poorly lately, we didn't expect him to make it to today but he has come back fighting and thanks to our excellent vet Chris, he is almost back to normal!
It is great to see the Glasgow water voles doing so well and the research into them will help inform conservation across the country. #Springwatch#springwatch2018
Top of the ‘plops’ - the #watervole is one of the #PeakDistrict’s most secretive but charismatic residents, making a home on our slow-moving rivers and canals. Listen out for the distinctive ‘plop’ as they drop from riverside into the water! 💦 #springwatch
Summer is the best time of year for spotting water voles. The first clues are often sound-based – a plop as a vole enters the water or the quiet chewing as one gnaws on its food. You normally first see one swimming along out of the corner of your eye, so keep alert! #Springwatch
