Econ democracy has never been so stylish! Style Crush serves as a market app where sellers can sell their outfits that they no longer use. All sellers have membership and are essentially hybrid owners of the app. They all make collective decisions and get to keep what they earn.
What is Style Crush? It is a revolutionary new app that gives sellers a stake on the platform they are selling on. It empowers them to take charge in a democratically owned marketplace. Unlike in other apps, the Sellers are the owners of the app and can make decisions accordingly
We’re partnering with Style Crush to showcase how the fashion industry needs a MAJOR overhaul with economic democracy. Check them out at https://t.co/rtfFqQOS74
Happy #Mayday! We stand in solidarity with all workers. Much has been accomplished by worker organization. In fact, this day sparked the eight-hour day movement. There is still work to be done for a completely free society. By organizing we can meet these challenges.
Worker Co-ops are businesses that give decision making and ownership to the workers, and they serve to fit their needs beyond just profit. Community land trusts give communities the means to hold collective wealth so they can have ownership of their land.
What is Economic Democracy? It is an alternative to the standard social relations that make up our economy. It empowers workers and communities by giving them a say in economic activity. It is a move towards more democratic governance and ownership in the economy.
Economic Democracy encompasses a spectrum of economic activity. Organizations that fall under it emphasize the social well being of its people and have multiple bottom lines, beyond the profit motive. It includes worker co-ops and community land trusts.
The PROA will undoubtedly empower unions and workers but there is still some contention over it. Which part of the PROA do you think would be most effective in empowering workers? Which labor issues do you think the bill should have addressed?
The PRO Act passed through the house on the 11th, and serves as an ambitious labor bill that will revamp the current state of affairs with regards to unions. It has not only redefined new definitions for employees and supervisors but it will also strengthen the rights of workers.
A challenge to unions that the PROA will address, are the "right to work laws". These laws have led unions to struggle with membership and funding. The PROA will allow unions and employers to require union fees to cover its costs regardless of state laws.
