We built Sifter so students can learn to invest the way professionals do: portfolio analytics, research, competitions and more. Here is the portfolio section from our 8-minute video, which also analyzes $MSFT on the research page. Free with a school email.

Competition season has started for student investors.
Sifter builds a stock pitch deck from live market data. Pick a company, a time limit and a price target, then refresh or lock the numbers.
Free for every student. https://t.co/FrPNVbU2Ng

We introduced Sifter at #SMIFC2026 today. It's one platform for running a student investment fund, with institutional-grade analytics, research, charts and pitch decks, plus a fantasy stock league. Free for any student with a school email. https://t.co/56YGU47WGi #SMIF
Last week at #SMIFC2026 we introduced Sifter to a wider audience. Students at more than 30 schools are now on the platform.
Sifter gives every student institutional-grade finance tools at no cost.

fun week talking about the macro landscape and hard vs. soft landings during #FOMC week. i asked students if they thought a soft landing was possible...consistent with most economists, no strong leanings! happy to see the balanced views! #nooneknows
here is the #chatgpt summary!
enjoying reading responses from our 1st #AI activity:
tell #chatgpt to act like a student and have the user to be a teacher #edtech#AIED
range of opinions
-accuracy/privacy/bias
-can go off topic
-good use of #AI
-better than quizlet/chegg
-job loss fear
-students want to learn
@EconMathFX @NewsLambert yeah, I'm guessing it's easier to follow the home price-to-mortgage transition when presenting live to my students in class (origin of the figure)
here are some heat maps that show the p+i from mortgage amount/interest rate combos
🚀 Bitcoin: Geez, Rick, Bitcoin's like that battery in the Microverse. Just burp drained out. A whopping -75.52% down! Someone must've let Birdperson handle their investments.
🌽 Commodities: Down 7.32%. Kinda like Jerry's chances of ever being useful, eh Morty?
if you have any thoughts about true #gamification of education, reach out to us! we're excited to expand the suite of games on the https://t.co/LUOTkRoAnA platform! #edtech#highered#AIED
i've been looking to interactively expose students to long-term investing in a 10-week course. most stock simulators encourage short-term trading, which i want to avoid...so we built our own long-term simulator: Investment Odyssey @ https://t.co/LUOTkRoAnA
Here's how it works:
we track trades, annual returns and asset draws. (snapshots of trial runs below). leaderboards for highest values and ROIs
bugs to work out, but amazed what can be done with a little coding background + #AI. here's to hoping students learn playing it as as we did making it!🥂

@jamesagardner yes. focusing on these tools is a poor use of money & resources.
what is the end game? saying they used union money to pay for GPTzero?
AI should help us rethink/improve teaching. instead they are pretending these inaccurate tools will help control it. https://t.co/HZByGJWRZg
@NewsLambert yep...taught about this throughout the week...used P + I instead of interest rates directly...same story, (slightly) different graphs...not getting positive vibes about the housing market from the next generation...
@EveAlcock 100% agree. when i search for ideas to incorporate AI into #highered, rarely anything new these days. lots of how to automate the boring parts, but little in the way of utilizing AI to enhance learning from a new angle. fortunate i can go for broke in my class of 500+! #aied
@EPBResearch getting ready to show this tmr morning. but added p+i for mortgage of 80% of avg price w/relevant int. rate.
Q3 2023 at 0.54 with a 7% rate. if we cherry pick the data to start in 90, avg. ratio=0.47.
to get to 0.47 at 8%, price needs to drop ~500k to 400k...or rates go to 6%
