@ECISDAthletics ECISD Athletics is a District of Distinction!🏆

Ector County ISD Athletics has been named a The Texas Way District of Distinction, an honor awarded to only 39 school districts across Texas by the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association.

This recognition goes beyond wins and losses. It celebrates the intentional work of our student-athletes, coaches, families and fans to build a culture centered on respect for others, control of self and the spirit of competition.

“We are incredibly proud of our kids and coaches,” said ECISD Director of Athletics/PE & Health Crystal Day. “This recognition reflects the intentional work they put in every day—not just to be better athletes, but to become better people.”

This is Estela Vejil, ECISD’s longest continuously serving employee, who has dedicated an incredible 44 years to serving our students, staff and community.

Today, we’re proud to recognize Estela, who began her journey with the district in 1982. Over the years, she has worn many hats across ECISD, serving the district in several different roles. Today, she continues that legacy as ECISD’s Risk Benefits Manager.

For more than four decades, Estela has watched ECISD grow and change- from the days of typewriters and carbon paper to the technology we use today.

Through all those years, one thing hasn’t changed: her love for ECISD. When asked what has kept her here, Estela said simply, “It’s a good place to work,” adding that ECISD has always felt like home.

To celebrate her incredible 44 years of service, ECISD leadership surprised Estela with some well-deserved relaxation- a special treatment at Woodhouse Spa and a weekend stay at the Odessa Marriott Hotel!

Teacher University is a two-day training featuring more than 400 learning sessions for our nearly 1,900 teachers. It’s an amazing undertaking that helps us all align our work for the start of a new year. Well done to our Academics & Accountability team and @EcisdTalented.

Promises made. Promises kept. The new @Permian_GoMOJO auditorium Bond 2023’s most prominent renovation and the 8th completed project features state-of-the-art lights and sound, a 22-by-39-foot video wall, an expanded stage, a technical theatre workshop and 1,100+ seats.

Our ATLAS CTE Center is one step closer to reality. Today school board members and district leaders signed the final steel beam before it is lifted into place. The new high school choice is on track to open in 2027-28.

Welcome to the fam new teachers! 🍎 It's been a great start to the day as we welcomed more than 100 new teachers to the ECISD family during New Teacher University!

Throughout the day, our newest educators learned about the resources, programs, and support available to help them succeed in the classroom. They also had the opportunity to connect with district leaders, meet fellow teachers, and begin building relationships that will last throughout the school year.

We're excited to have these outstanding educators join Team ECISD and can't wait to see the difference they'll make in the lives of our students. Welcome to the family!
