They joined musicians from 10 countries to create Samba Beatz an 80 strong new commission for drummers and dancers. Edinburgh’s young samba group Pulse of the Place joined the project during its workshop phase. Funded by the PLaCE fund which supports Edinburgh’s Festivals.
Yesterday’s Edinburgh Festival Carnival was a smash hit as 800 performers paraded along Princes Street.

Running from 16-18 July, our online Carnival features international and Scottish artists including musicians, dancers, poets, acrobats, jugglers and cooks.
Sun 19 Jul 2020 should've seen communities, dancers, musicians, circus performers and masqueraders from Edinburgh and across the world come together. Our Carnival & Community Manager, Giles Agis, created this short video to mark the cancelled Carnival.

We are currently working on plans for 2021, placing the safety of our participants and audiences at the centre of everything we do. We look forward to sharing plans with you but, in the meantime, we'll be sharing lots of Carnival memories to brighten up the Winter months.
