Ever heard of the SEED grant program? Without SEED, nonprofits and universities would have less capacity to run programs that prepare teachers in high-need schools. The FY27 PBR eliminates SEED funding entirely. Learn more about the impact of proposed cuts https://t.co/AwoUbsT9Tj

FYI - Because it cut most of its research staff & canceled contracts, @usedgov is not updating a vital data source about education outcomes and federal spending. The Digest of Education Statistics began in 1962 but much of its data hasn't been updated since January 2025.
Federal data on enrollment, teacher pay, school spending, safety, and more has gone stale — raising questions about what the public can still know about American education. https://t.co/XYAMcYZzzu
We are thrilled to welcome Jared Bass as CEF's new Executive Director. Jared brings expertise in education policy and has held key roles at the Center for American Progress and House Committees on Appropriations and Ed & Workforce. See Jared's full bio: https://t.co/ViZgavMG67
FYI - these are the views of @EDSecMcMahon & @SenBillCassidy that led to cancelling their planned closed-door briefing of HELP Committee members. Another alternative to cancelling the meeting would have been to hold it as a public hearing.
It’s unfortunate that today’s planned meeting with the Senate HELP Committee was cancelled after Democrats broke the agreement for a candid, closed door conversation and invited press.
I’m always open to transparency — I spent hours testifying publicly yesterday.
It’s disappointing that instead of a productive conversation about the state of our nation’s students and the steps we’re taking at the Department of Education to reverse this trend and break up the bureaucracy, this became about producing another media clip for MSNBC.
FYI - today's closed-door meeting with Senate HELP Committee members and @EDSecMcMahon was cancelled after @SenTimKaine said he would broadcast the meeting to the press in the spirit of open government. The Secretary and Chair had different takes on his plans and the meeting.
Kaine will not get a chance to practice his gonzo journalism
“Rather than allowing me to broadcast the conversation, which wouldn’t include any classified information, the meeting was canceled altogether.”
FYI - @EDSecMcMahon testified today before the Senate Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee on the President's request to slash education funding next year. Tomorrow at 3pm ET she will brief Sen. HELP Cmte members behind closed doors, but @SenTimKaine will broadcast it
