A year comes & goes so quick, & it’s been miraculous witnessing your growth into the feisty yet precious one year old you are today. Melanie & I have a lifetime ahead & many birthdays to share with you, but we’ll always look fondly back on her first. Happy Birthday, Rylee!
Today, U.S. forces lifted the blockade on all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports and coastal areas, in accordance with the President's direction. American forces are not impeding the transit of vessels to or from Iranian ports. All U.S. military blockade enforcement efforts have ceased. Our great Naval Ships will remain in the general area to make sure that all aspects of the agreement are adhered to, obeyed and in full force and effect.

.@VP: "The United States wins either way. What @POTUS is trying to do is actually extend the hand of peace and say if the Iranian people want greater prosperity, then their leadership has to step up and change their behavior. If they do, great. If they don't, the United States has already gotten a lot from what we need."
.@VP: "You see the propagandists who are saying 'Here are all the things Iran gets!' ... the big print in the actual agreement is they don't get ANY of that stuff unless they totally transform themselves as a country — and if they do, that's a huge win for everybody."
.@VP: "You see the United States working with our Gulf Arab partners in a way you've never seen before in the history of this country, and I think that's one of the reasons why we've gotten to the point where we have a very good peace deal that's on the table..."
"I just want to say His Highness is a warrior," says @POTUS in his meeting with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
"The relationship has been outstanding...and it's an honor to be with you. We just signed a deal with Iran, and this country was a very powerful ally."
.@VP: “What this agreement does is really twofold — on the one hand, it ensures that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, while simultaneously opening the Strait of Hormuz… it also fundamentally extends a hand to Iran and says, ‘Look, if you guys are willing to honor your obligations, if you’re willing to allow real inspections of your nuclear program, then we will welcome you back into the world economy.’ I think what @POTUS wants to do is turn over a leaf of 47 years of a failed relationship between the United Stated and Iran, but that requires the Iranians to actually honor their end of the bargain.”
"When will the text of the MOU be released?"
@POTUS: "I think pretty soon. I want it to be released because it's a very powerful document. It's not like the Obama document, which was just a terrible document... So probably pretty soon. I would say sometime after Friday."
.@VP: "One of the core parts of the agreement is that the IAEA and the United States are going to help Iran destroy the highly enriched stockpile, and that's something that's spelled out very clearly in the MOU."
.@VP on Iran: "There hasn't been a single dollar of sanctions relief or unfrozen assets, either from the United States or any of our allies in the Gulf... They only get that benefit if they meet their obligations under the agreement."
.@VP on the Memorandum of Understanding with Iran: "All of these things come along with benefits if Iran delivers, and nothing if Iran doesn't deliver... Most importantly, they're going to have a verifiable commitment to not building a nuclear weapon."
