Students in Nova Scotia say they are feeling left out of the discussion around how schools will reopen safely — something they hope will change as the year progresses.

Our RCE sent us a COVID-19 themed "SafeSchools Training" video for teachers to watch before school starts. He's a quote for it: "Wearing a mask does not replace the importance of physical distancing" @NSTeachersUnion
It's hard to see @NSTeachersUnion#stepup4students, like they do EVERY DAY, when you're stuck in a bunker at 1 Government Place.
We see you teachers, school counsellors & school-based specialists. Keep up the incredible work! ❤️🏆🔥 #nsed
I challenge Zach and Steve to spend 1 FULL day in a classroom next week. (Not the new Bridgetown school) That’s it. 1 day. 1 teacher. 28 kids. 1 lost sheep. Then flap ur yaps about stepping up, thinking about it & doing your part. #readynotready#NSchaos#SafeSeptemberNS#nspoli
Expert Cynthia Carr told @zachchurchill she gave the NS back to school plan a high grade b/c she was told high schools would start 100% online. That was NOT TRUE yet Churchill keeps spewing the false grade even though she told him she was given misinformation. #SafeSeptemberNS
The last time @StephenMcNeil
ignored unions during this pandemic the results were devastating. @withwozney is telling you what is really happening in schools so we can fix things. We need time. We need leaders to listen+ACT now. #SafeSeptemberNS#nspoli https://t.co/byfvkffZNK
Teachers and parents have expressed a range of concerns about reopening schools. The Liberals should be listening to the people who will be on the frontlines when children return to classrooms next week.

Parents,
Teachers can be both excited to see your children+frustrated/angry with the lack of preparations done to ensure a safe return. In NS we have been working miracles despite a lack of funding, gov't teacher bashing+high child poverty. #nspoli#SafeSeptemberNS#readynotready
I am waiting and wondering where on earth the spray disinfectant and cleaning cloths are as well as my own supply of sanitizer. We need gear. This is like an army hospital without supplies.
Teachers need to #StepUp? These are receipts for things I purchased with my own money to keep kids safe and learning in my classroom this year. Teachers don’t need to step up... we need to be heard. #SafeSeptemberNS@NSTeachersUnion@withwozney@zachchurchill
This is very true. 1000s of teachers who are in schools this week are concerned things aren't ready to safely welcome students back. A guy who hasn't been inside a classroom in quite some time disagrees with them.

Huge thanks to the custodians, admin and other staff who’ve been busting butt to try to meet the deadline... but right now there are a lot of answers that are simply “I don’t know” END /6
What I do blame is the government for not reflecting on the realities they are being told and shown from workers actually on the ground and modifying the time line for opening. A sign of good leadership is adapting to changing circumstances... I’m looking for some leadership. /5
