Tories gave us 14 years of bigger government: more debt, taxes, spending, welfare, regulation and QE. Burnham thinks the cure is yet more government. It is like trying to cure socialism with a higher dose of the same disease. It can’t work 👇

@QuarryAli@RobertJenrick Shock ! Government procurement is crap - HS2 ?? Not an excuse for underinvestment in defence, culturally this government prefers welfare to defence they should be honest about it and except they will never be in Government again.
🚨 NEW: A Treasury source attacks John Healey for resigning as Defence Secretary
"Let's be clear on what John is asking for: cuts to schools and hospitals"

One aside on the Blair conversation
I’m absolutely gobsmacked at the level of hostility to “tech bros” and the belief that we can just insulate ourselves from AI and technology
Like listening to weavers on the spinning Jenny or Hanson cab drivers on the advent of the motor car
Ahead of Heathrow’s first flight 80 years ago this Sunday, we asked critically acclaimed David Larbi to pen a special new poem to mark our legacy.
In his ode to Heathrow, "Gateway to the World" captures the excitement and wonder of air travel - positioning Heathrow as more than an airport; a gateway that brings the world within reach, connecting millions of passengers safely and smoothly. 🌍
And this is no normal poem – a piece has been etched in GIANT LETTERS into a local field, visible only to those in flight above! ✈️
Larbi said “I’m greatly honoured to be the airport’s first Poet-in-Residence, with an ode that captures Heathrow’s 80 year legacy, the excitement and wonder of air travel and all those who work daily to make Heathrow the incredible place it is”.
Since that first flight 80 years ago more than 2.9 billion total passengers have travelled through Heathrow on over 22 million flights. ✈️
