🇨🇦🇸🇴 Today, I introduced a private member’s bill that would declare July of every year in Canada as Somali Heritage Month!
I’d like to thank MP @HonAhmedHussen for co-sponsoring this bill with me and for his counsel.
I hope that all MPs will support this legislation.
Canada is home to many Canadians of Somali heritage.
Canadians of Somali descent have left and continue to leave a historic mark on Canada, with contributions that span communities across the country and are reflected in Canada’s economic, political, social and cultural life.
If passed, Somali heritage month would give us an opportunity to celebrate that heritage, the role that Canada has played in supporting Somali Canadians and their contributions to Canada.
@VoiceOfFranky You don’t have friends who were killed/maimed by Iranian DFC’s in Iraq then I take it? Or family members/friends who were on Flight 752. Or know anyone attacked on Oct 7th. What a lovely safe little world you inhabit.
@locomorro4@PaulChampLaw Last point, cause this is fun. Read this and please (direct question to you here) explain to me what you understand “Live Fire drills” to mean.

@locomorro4@PaulChampLaw And I’ll ask - do you understand the capabilities of the weapon systems onboard that ship? In relation to its ability to disrupt international shipping in the gulf of Oman/straight of Hormuz?
@locomorro4@PaulChampLaw Regardless of its munition status - it’s a legitimate target during armed hostilities. If it was truly unarmed it should have sought protection in a neutral port.
@perksentangled@canlungdoc@acoyne It was not “hors de combat” - it was absolutely valid target. Do you honestly think Iran would send one of its newest warships without any armaments to transit a notoriously volatile piece of ocean?
