Super night at the Diamond League 💎 Athletics in Rabat - topped off with a win for Halifax’s @MaxBurgin3 in the 800m (1:42:98).
There was one fool in the stand shouting YORKSHIRE, YORKSHIRE, YORKSHIRE! 😅
Strong runs also for Laura Muir and Matt Hudson Smith tonight!
Morocco sports tour turned to golf today, watching sporting icons from my childhood.
Colin Montgomery, Ernie Els, Miguel Angel Jiminez and Jose Maria Olazabal in action at the Hassan II Trophy in Rabat.
Nice to see legend Vijay Singh almost sink one from the fairway too!
My sports tour of Morocco continues with the WTA tennis women’s 250 tour event in Rabat.
Former Wimbledon finalist Vera Zvonareva has just been knocked out by 6th seed Petra Marcinko, a 20-year-old who hits a firm return!
Not the busiest sporting event I’ve been to!
Grassroots cricket in Morocco.
No grounds, no scoreboard, limited resources.
A quick Afghan opening bowler.
Perhaps there’s a poor man’s BBC spin off required.
Eddie’s Field of Dreams coming soon…

@EmergingCricket The match saw representation from @UKinMorocco and was watched by the Ambassador of Pakistan.
Lots of talent on show.
Hopefully facilities can get support needed over next few years to develop the game at top and at grassroots; the weather is perfect for it! ☀️

Cricket in Morocco 🇲🇦
The country might currently be banned by the ICC and without a cricket pitch… but we got a game on this morning
I joined Sala Al Jadida Cricket Union and the Rakrak Salaoui Cricket Association in a game, played on a 3G football pitch.
Great fun! 🏏
The Moroccan Cricket Union recently sent 3 new coaches to the UK to do their qualifications.
Aim is now to get kids playing in and out of schools, find two grounds and relaunch 🏏 in Morocco, which once hosted an international event.
Perhaps one for @EmergingCricket in future!
Even with a move to Morocco, you can’t stop me finding Yorkshire sport.
South Yorkshire’s Joe Whitaker in action at the Morocco Royal Tour showjumping in Rabat.
Not a bad Friday afternoon for it! 🐴

First week of parenting my baby girl and my new favourite thing is considering each nappy change as either a DRS review 🏏
Started from the get go…
“I’ve checked for no ball, it was a fair delivery”
I love a “There’s a clear blue line there, stick with your original decision”
I want it to work. It’s a safer environment for children and families to enjoy cricket - rather than boozy T20 Blast evenings or Test matches.
I’ll always prefer the other formats but I didn’t need much persuasion to start following cricket as a kid. Others need it simplifying.
The Hundred’s return seemed flat yesterday despite two decent games.
There’s clearly a lack of quality overseas players.
I think it needs to be more extreme to survive. If it’s going to say it’s different to T20 cricket, it needs to be different - other than just 20 balls less.
Replacement X Factor players should be available, like the Big Bash trialled and IPL have. Create more razzmatazz.
On a side note, I’d add 2 franchises - move Northern Superchargers to Durham, include a new Leeds-based franchise and create a Bristol team for the south west.
I want to like the Hundred. I see how it inspires the kids at school.
But my word, this TV commentary is dry. It wouldn’t be out of place at the Crucible.
Give it some oomph!

It’s hard enough for village teams to get players playing cricket - let alone find scorers - regularly on Saturdays.
For a league to change parameters mid-season AND then backdate punishments is baffling.
Hopefully @Cherwellcricket will fix this.

@OxMailLiamRice anyone at @OxfordMailLive able to look into why @Cherwellcricket changed rules mid-season. Started backdating docking clubs points for failing to provide scorers?
Photos taken days apart this week 🤔 Not seen anything like this in 10 years covering local cricket
