Absolute Game Changer and Thank You to the donor family!
I hope this inspires others to do what they can. All gifts matter and getting more Hokies invested continues to be key not only to athletic success but elevating the entire university.
Athletics is the front door to the University.
Got the contract for the Maryland football series alteration. As you can see, the 2029 game’s guarantee is adjusted to $600K, an increase of $100K . (From the original contract, Maryland will pay the #Hokies $500K to travel for this year’s game in College Park.)
So no, VT did not pay $600K to cancel the 2027 and 2028 games, as has been reported elsewhere.
NEW: Nick Saban issues a warning to college sports about the current NIL landscape during his testimony for "The Protect College Sports Act":
“It’s become an arms race, who spends the most has got the best chance to win. But I think it’s a race to the bottom because if you don’t spend to win, you lose your fan base and you don’t have any revenue.”

Nick Saban says "multiple transfers have a negative effect" besides exceptions for graduate transfers
"Unlimited transfers creates free agency"
"We have nothing to control agents, we have nothing to control tampering"
"Absolutely not what any of us signed up for"
Nick Saban, testifying in front of a Senate committee now, comes out strongly in favor of the Cruz-Cantwell college sports bill. Says the bill is needed because college sports are a mess headed for a much bigger mess.
There is nothing this guy says that should be taken seriously. He directly benefits from the current wild wild west, uncapped world of player compensation.
Everyone has hidden motives, that need to be bright to light. What’s best for the longterm health of ALL college sports!
Nick Saban is speaking today on the College Sports Protection Act. Let us not forget that 2 years ago, Saban said that "college sports is not a business." And that's who Congress is going to for insight as a subject matter expert.
Nick Saban mentions the money that schools are "funneling" from multimedia rights partners and sponsors to roster - money that, he says, could be going to fund women and Olympic sports.
🚨BREAKING🚨
Following today’s unanimous approval of Hokie Ventures, Virginia Tech will soon announce the largest gift in University history.
The donor has requested to remain anonymous, to keep the focus entirely on the future of VT athletics.
NEWS: 2026 wing Eltayeb Eltayeb has committed to Virginia Tech, source told @LeagueRDY.
The 6-foot-8 wing out of @Sunrisehoops is a high-upside prospect who was named a Prep All-American this season.
Repped by @EricSimpkin of @OneMotiveSports.
Starting a series breaking down some of the best available transfers still out there.
First up: Ethan Copeland
Copeland is arguably the best shooter still available whose skillset goes beyond being just a deadeye from 3.
The only player in the ASun last year to put up at least 7.5 3PAs/G at 41% and one of only 10 players in the country to post such numbers
Copeland also posted 46.2% on Catch & shoot 3s & shot a whopping 49.1% on Transition 3s last season.
Aside from 3PT shooting Copeland who’s listed at 6’2 also posted a 12.5% DRB%(72%tile) which makes him 1 of 6 players to fit this criteria while shooting at least 41% from 3.
Pair that with Copeland’s 9.9% TO%(88%tile) & 2.9% Steal% (81%tile) and he excels at many of the tools an off-ball guard/secondary ball handler requires (floor spacing, generate extra possessions)
The film also shows his ability to make great reads in ball screens (especially to the short roll which is basically a required skill nowadays) and the ability to drive closeouts where he shot 47.1% on paint 2s this past season.
