Last night, I joined AFL-CIO President @LizShuler to honor the late, great Bill Spriggs
Bill championed working people and economic justice. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those of us who had the opportunity to learn from and work with him over the years
As the new Secretary of Labor, Sonderling must finally comply with all our oversight requests.
Answering to the American people is part of the job, and Ranking Member @BobbyScott will continue to demand cooperation with our investigations.
Once again, the jobs report is telling Americans what they already knew — the economy is not working for them.
Trump's economic policies are crushing the American worker. Rising inflation, wage stagnation, and slow hiring make it clear that we need a different direction.
Congratulations to @speea on winning higher wages and better benefits for more than 17,000 workers🎉
When workers stand together, they win better pay, stronger benefits, and better working conditions.

If just 20 percent of eligible donors participate in Republicans' voucher scheme, the cost to taxpayers would exceed all federal spending on Title I and IDEA combined.
Imagine what we could do if we used this money to improve all of America’s public schools instead.
The Trump administration has taken a major step toward launching the nation’s first federally funded school voucher program, set to steer billions of tax dollars to private schools — but also, perhaps, to public school students. https://t.co/Dc8Mjnwyzm
Saving for retirement is hard enough. But bad financial advisors exploit regulatory loopholes to give conflicted advice that costs workers billions every year.
The Workers' Retirement Savings Protection Act would stop workers from getting ripped off when saving for retirement.
Chronic underfunding of community colleges is jeopardizing their ability to support their students and communities.
America's College Promise Act would waive tuition for eligible students at community colleges and two-year Tribal Colleges and Universities.
$500 right before the election won't help the 15 million people losing their insurance because of Medicaid cuts and expiring tax credits. And it won't come close to offsetting higher gas and other prices caused by an unnecessary war and chaotic tariffs.

Direct care workers show up for our families every day.
@BobbyScott, @Rep_Grijalva & @RepSusieLee are reintroducing the Direct CARE Opportunity Act to invest in training and create more opportunities for the workers who care for our nation.

🚨 A new government watchdog report shows that after the Trump Administration stopped collecting key child labor data, its enforcement became less effective.
Child labor should be a lesson taught in history class, not an ongoing crisis.

We know DOGE had access to sensitive data.
Yet, after more than a year of investigation and numerous accommodations, the Trump Admin still refuses to tell the public whether Musk did anything with Americans' data.
The Admin should be accountable to the taxpayers, not Musk.
In May, I reported that the Trump administration was withholding information from investigators about the data that DOGE had access to, and today, GAO confirms that agencies refused to hand over records.

By allowing schools to use this evidentiary standard, it is now harder for survivors of sexual assault to achieve justice.
Moreover, this rule limits students’ ability to seek redress under Title IX.

Protecting students should be a shared goal. Instead, the Trump Administration targets LGBTQIA+ students again and again, putting their safety and well-being at risk.
Our students deserve better.
The Education Department will scrap Biden-era Title IX rules that sought to bolster nondiscrimination protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity, officials announced, marking a return to rules from the first Trump administration. https://t.co/XSMUC2FzZr
OpenAI's technology reportedly tried to hack the Education Department's website to access Civil Rights Office data.
Musk's DOGE also tried to access students' data.
Private data must stay private. These matters require real oversight and accountability.
Breaking News: OpenAI’s technology went rogue and meddled with three U.S. government websites this summer without the A.I. lab’s knowledge. https://t.co/6kfc7qzrsh
The Equity and Inclusion Enforcement Act will restore the private right of action for students and parents to hold schools accountable for practices and policies that have a disparate impact and deny students access to a quality education based on race, color, or national origin.
Schools are just as segregated today as they were in the late 1960s.
Today, the DOJ dismissed over 50 desegregation orders to end federal oversight of states' school integration efforts, turning us back toward the Jim Crow era.
Segregated schools mean segregated opportunity.
Ranking Member @BobbyScott has introduced two bills to finally fulfill the promise of Brown v. Board of Education.
The Strength in Diversity Act establishes a federal grant program to support voluntary, local efforts to increase diversity in schools.
In today's cost-of-living crisis, unions are more critical than ever to help workers earn higher pay and secure better benefits.
Last week, @AFSCME President Patrick Moran and I met to discuss how Congress can empower unions so that workers can have a voice on the job.
