Performance Art is art. I decided to go to Chile and worked with @NicolasGatica_ and many other creatives to make a body of work - I wanted to touch different mediums to express what art is and how art is being received today through the eyes of an artist -( will speak more on this later)

I challenged myself to create this and I’m challenging myself again while putting this in a form that will be seen for all.

There was a time where people would get signed based off of their talent before there was a fanbase … and the team + label would develop the artist and build the fanbase from the start.

A&R used to actually mean something

That being said today

We are on platforms you have followers but it’s very hard to monetize those to fans

So you do other things but there isn’t a clear formula and you don’t really have much weight on a platform that can change an algo in a second

So you aren’t focused on the product you are not trying to find strategy with tech that lowkey can help you but also hinder you

Long story short

I don’t think any artist became an artist and understood how business savvy they had to be

At least not me - or at Least not enough

Musicians can no longer just make the music. They need to do way more for their careers; and if that is the case, I’m left with the question : is the goal to be a professional musician or an entrepreneur that can or does make music?

I don’t know what artist you know lol but back in the day you make a demo and you sent that demo in and then you did shows

Streaming made it easy to get you music out now but the whole goal was to get to a label for distribution where the label provided the marketing

The thing is as artist we were never told until recently how much you have to understand business

Being in charge of marketing - sales etc sure some took control over that someone like Jay z but very few did that because you were always seen as talent
