This will be more than racing this time too …

No doubt Sheffield’s hills will create an epic race - but the Social Impact work around the TDF - connecting to the incredible local projects already happening will be especially welcome 🏆 🥇 🥂

Exciting times 🚴‍♀️

[Ed Clancy OBE @Ed_Clancy]

Big moment for @SouthYorksMCA and @BritishCycling

Tour de France stages announced with Sheffield in the heart of the action🏆

Biggest free to watch sporting event this country has hosted

@CaritasSalford @BritishCycling @N_CyclingCentre Happy to help - all credit to Eve and Daisy in our team.
140 meals a day really is heroic - keep up the great work 🏆 👏

It unlocks £17m to make walking, wheeling & cycling safer and easier across South Yorkshire.

Still more to do - but today’s a big win.

Onwards. 🫡 #SouthYorkshire #ActiveTravel

South Yorkshire has just been rated a 3-star region for active travel - one of the highest ratings in the country.

News I’m most proud of since finishing with sport.

Thanks to our incredible team; 4 brilliant councils, and communities who refused to give up on this mission.

[Active Travel England @activetraveleng]

Councils across England have received more than £626 million in government funding to deliver high-quality active travel schemes – enough for 500 miles of new walking and cycling routes and 170,000 more active trips👩‍🦽🚶🚲

So much energy from the pupils during our cycling workshop as part of the Mayor’s Walk and Wheel Challenge prize draw.
Great to see young people getting active, growing in confidence, and having fun on two wheels. 🙌

[Ed Clancy OBE @Ed_Clancy]

We’re starting where challenges are greatest – linking up neighbourhoods with buses, trams & trains so no one’s left behind.

Moving towards a region where every journey starts with confidence & ends in opportunity. A place we’re proud to call home. 🌍

[Ed Clancy OBE @Ed_Clancy]

South Yorkshire doesn’t copy & paste solutions – we build our own.

People want what many of us remember: safer streets, better connections & choice to walk, wheel & cycle.

I’ve seen it first-hand: belonging changes lives. Celebrating active lives and the great outdoors at community events brings people together.

Well done @RightUpRStreet @MyDoncaster 🏆

For me personally, it hasn’t always been easy.
There have been ups and downs, struggles along the way - but this has been the right path for me - and we have built this strategy the right way.

[Ed Clancy OBE @Ed_Clancy]

As long as I’m able, I’ll be riding bikes. And for as long as I can speak, continue to champion the joy and freedom of the humble bicycle!

Very happy to still be in roles that promote and support cycling.

Happy #RideToWorkDay x 🚲💨

And with the launch of the Sport Legacy Institute - in partnership with @WestfieldHealth - we’re stepping things up.

We’re tackling health inequalities head-on and putting prevention at the heart of where we live, work, and learn.

🚴‍♂️ Sport played a huge part in my life - but this is about more than that.

This new agreement between @Sport_England, the NHS, and @SouthYorksMCA builds on the brilliant work already happening in our communities…

[Ed Clancy OBE @Ed_Clancy]

The school run’s at the heart of our plans because it’s where good habits start and healthy journeys begin.

Great to see @olivercoppard & England's Mayors signing up to giving communities healthier, happier and better-connected travel choices 👏

Here in South Yorkshire we’re proud to back safer streets, and routes that give everyone the freedom & choice to walk, wheel and cycle.
